unless nikkas in the south decide to start playing for schools outside the SEC enmasse, the SEC will continue to dominate. you nikkas just don't get it. what makes the SEC dominant is not some birthright or the fact our coaches are better, or that our schools care more about football than other schools. its because MOST BLACK FOLKS LIVE IN THE SOUTH!!! until there is another mass migration of black people to the north or the west, or black folks in the south decide they don't wanna go to SEC schools (like they did in the past during segregation and jim crow), the SEC wil continue to dominate.

the only reason schools like USC or Ohio State used to dominate in the 60s or 70s is because most of the great black athletes in the south didn't wanna or were not allowed to play for the SEC teams. they either played at HBCUs or they went to northern schools that were more progressive. that trend started to change in the 80s/90s. and its culminated with the 00s when most of the best black players in the south decided to stay in the south. thus the reign of the SEC began.

unless black folks decide to leave the south enmasse or we decide to play for big 10 or pac 12 schools above the SEC schools, the SEC will dominate in perpetuity.

calm down bruh. I shyt on your conference. I've never disrepected USC. Along with Miami and Florida State, ya'll are the only other progams I consider in class with the SEC elites. USC is located in southern california. there's always been a large black population in so-cal. no surprise ya'll always got dope teams (when not on sanctions). you got no one else to compete against for that talent.

college football dominance is about the PLAYERS. like i said before, there nothing magical about the SEC. the only reason there are more dominant teams in the SEC than all other conferences is because we are located in the most fertile part of the country for elite college football talent. the deep south. there are other small elite pockets out there. So-Cal being one. Detroit/Cleveland used to be another before the economic downturn in the rust belt the last couple of decades had so many black families moving back to the south.

the black population in TN is only about 15%. we can't field competitive teams in the SEC based purely on in-state talent. its one of the reasons Georgia, LSU, and Florida (before the recent downturn) have been so consistent. large in-state talent pool keeps em viable each and every season. when tennessee was dominant it was because we were getting the best players in north carolina and tennessee as well as getting our share of the elite talent in georgia.

arkansas suffers from the same problem as tennssee (not enough in-state talent to be elite). the problem with the mississippi schools is that their state is not high in population. plus having two schools splitting a limited talent pool is never good. plus alabama and auburn have been raiding the elite talent outta mississippi in the same way tennessee raids north carolina. only difference is there is no sec school in north carolina to attract the elite players. in mississippi there were two. however, hugh freeze is changing that right now with his 3 consecutive top 20 recruiting classes.

most of the talent in the south comes from 3 states. florida, georgia, and texas. unless you are located in one of those states, you have to go out of state and battle it out with other schools to get the talent neccesary to compete.

But I'm confused you asked why there are camps in Alabama, and even more so said that as if its a knock on the schools holding the camps... aren't they going out of state to battle it out with other schools to get the talent neccesary to compete?

SEC schools don't need to set up these camps in other peoples backyards because we are all already so close to one another. Knoxville is just a 3 hr car ride from Atlanta. Why set up a camp in Atlanta when you can just invite the elite players from Atlanta onto your campus that is just 3 hrs away. Same story for Alabama and Auburn.

The reason Harbaugh is coming to alabama is cause no poor kid in Alabama has money to travel all the way to Michigan to participate their camps up there and get noticed. The big 10 schools gotta come to where the talent is. Down south, we don't have to look too far to find bona-fide studs.
