Note: We will by safesaver">continue to look for reactions from the various prospects who attended the event yesterday.

As expected, the BBQ was a big success this weekend, with George Campbell's commitment possibly being the best scenario the coaches could have imagined. Still, moves were made with multiple prospects. These notes are based off conversations with a wide variety of sources over the last 24 hours or so.

Biggest Moves: The consensus coming out of the event was that the biggest move seemed to be made with Pittsburgh (PA) Baldwin's 2015 OL Sterling Jenkins. If you read the interview from yesterday, it's clear not only the event, but the campus in general made a big impact on him. It was an event and visit he had been looking to take for a few months now and it sounded like it lived up to the expectations he had set. We've talked numerous times about his relationships with Michael Ferns and Chase Winovich, but after talking with Jenkins last night, he made good acquaintance with George Campbell and Mason Cole as well. Campbell even gave Jenkins a Michigan poster to take home "as a reminder".

Who's Next? The strong candidate for this spot is definitely Lakewood (OH) St. Edward cornerback Shaun Crawford, who finally came out and named the Wolverines his leader yesterday after another good visit for the event. Mark got the impression that he may be nearing a decision, wanting to talk to his parents soon about where things stand. The timing of when it may happen is unclear, but it could very well be soon. He's the one player to keep an eye on in the near future.

Will Thompson Get Offered? Was told from a few different people (including Tyriq) that the bulk he's put on even since the Sound Mind Sound Body camp took the coaches aback a bit yesterday. He's currently up to 212 and the King coaching staff is hoping to get him to around 225 or so eventually. More than one person I've talked to about Thompson said if he concentrates at linebacker, he has James Ross written all over him; instinctive, intelligent and not only makes contact, but welcomes it and thrives off of it. If Thompson impresses out of the gate this season, I wouldn't be surprised to see Michigan pull the trigger on an offer, even if they're in good position with a couple other prospects.

Where Campbell Can Help: I'll have more on this later, but one player that really seemed to take a liking to his commitment was Jashon Cornell, the five-star defensive end out of Minneapolis, who actually texted me on Saturday to ask me if I had seen that Campbell had committed. Then I got the quote I shared on the board the other night: "(George's commit) definitely has an effect on me. It shows that the coaches know how to recruit top players and are building a top team."

With Damien Harris in the fold, I think Campbell's commitment could help with Jacques Patrick, but not as much as the Twitter exchanges may have led people to believe. The by safesaver">silver lining? Patrick's interest in Michigan is legitimate on its own, with or without Campbell, and the commitment is definitely not going to make things worse. I just don't know if it's an event that would shift his recruitment completely in Michigan's favor at this point in time. At the same time, the momentum is almost tangible right now and all bets are off the table.

Thiyo Lukusa: I talked the other night with the behemoth 2016 offensive line product out of Traverse City, MI, who made his second trip to Ann Arbor in less than a month. The biggest thing he was looking for was the educational aspect of what Michigan offered and the presentation "exceeded" his expectations. I do believe Michigan will offer very quickly after his sophomore season starts and I think he eventually becomes a Wolverine, although it may not be as quickly as once believed.

General Thoughts on Campbell: First, the Brady Hoke can't recruit (insert category of player here) meme should have been dead before Saturday's surprise. To be honest I don't know why it's even brought up anymore.

I tweeted this on Saturday, but Campbell's commitment garnered probably the biggest reaction of any recruit Michigan has gotten since I've started covering the topic and certainly within the last couple years or so. I think the spontaneity of it was a huge part of that, but it's more than that as well. With Derrick Green and Jabrill Peppers, by the time they committed it had become relatively clear that they were going to end up in Ann Arbor. Campbell was a surprise (not even Mason Cole knew it was going down going into the weekend) and is from the heart of SEC country with no previous ties to the Michigan program or area in general.

What stinks is that the scholarships for this cycle will be smaller. Otherwise you'd be looking at what I believe would be a class that even bests what will likely end up happening to finish out 2014.

Berea (Ky.) Madison Southern Top50 2015 running back Damien Harris told his coach on by safesaver">Sunday evening he wanted to commit to Michigan.

Harris chose Michigan over offers from the likes of Florida, Notre Dame, Ohio State and South Carolina.

“I gave him some tough questions and made him think about them overnight to make sure he's making the right decision and they (along with his mother) feel 100 percent they are,” Madison Southern head coach Jon Clark recapped. “Just worst-case scenario questions because there is a long time before signing day.”

Those questions were…

*You know what a verbal means? “A lot of kids verbal now a days and change their mind. We talked about this is your thing, this is an engagement and being 100 percent committed him from here forward. We talked about this ending the by safesaver">recruiting process. He was fine with all of that.”

*Are there any other by safesaver">schools if they were to come in would they intrigue you this season like Alabama, USC or Arkansas? “He said no. This is where he wants to be.”

*What if Michigan goes 0-10 will you be okay with that? “He said yeah, that’s where I want to go.”

With that, Harris called the Michigan coaching staff and gave his pledge to the Wolverines. He becomes commit No. 4 for the Wolverines in the class-of-2015, joining fellow blue-chip receiver George Campbell, offensive lineman Jon Runyan Jr. and kicker Andrew Davis.

As a sophomore, Harris rushed for 1,778 yards and 35 touchdowns on 144 carries, finding the end zone once every 4.1 carries. Clark is expecting bigger things this fall.

“He’s 5-11, 210 right now,” Clark stated. “He’s put on 15 pounds of muscle. He’s still running 4.35 (in the 40-yard dash).

Ranked by the 247Composite as the nation’s No. 4 running back and No. 45 prospect overall, Clark added that Michigan’s offense is a great fit for Harris’s skill set.

“He’s a kid that can get the edge and outside with your stretch game, and he’s a kid that can run between the tackles. He’s an every-down back. He has great hands and you can spread him out and he’s going to be a threat as an edge receiver too. He’s going to do that for us this year. He’s flexing out wide and catching deep balls. He’s putting together a dangerous package.”

Besides Michigan, Harris had early offers from the likes of Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Notre Dame, Ohio State, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Harris has been to Michigan a few times in the past and grew up a fan of the Wolverines.

Something seems very strange about all of this. We are talking about a program that hasn't won a conference title in a decade and is coming off of a 8-5 record. This is a school located in a state that no one wants to visit let alone live in. And now all of a sudden they are landing top recruits left and right???

I think the NCAA needs to start sniffing around Ann Arbor................
