Winning a chip is hard. People that came up in the 3peat era got it twisted. You see a squad win once and think they bout to be the Bulls. It dont work like that most of the time. Some squads just have everything break their way, win a chip, and thats it.

That said, it was straight malpractice to let KCP walk. You dont stack chips letting quality contributors walk for nothing.
And nowadays the league is too talented for a team to repeat let alone 3-peat. The last team that would’ve accomplished that would’ve been the KD Warriors had it not been for injuries. Theres been a new champion every year since then.

I still dont understand why Joker wanted russ. Appreciate him wanting to keep a black man employed but his style of play is literally the opposite of what Denver does.

Maybe joker is did this on purpose to go back home early
Same reason Bron and Kawhi wanted him...name/resume and it seems like he has a pretty engaging personality. Contrary to popular belief, players are not only not the greatest assessors of talent or fit but they dont even try or think about it a lot of the time. That and they are so arrogant and myopic they think they can make it work. That said, its not like they had a lot of options.

I’m putting Denver in the same bucket as Milwaukee

They have the best player in the conference so you have to give them a certain level of respect, but the supporting cast is just not inspiring. In an absolute best case scenario where everything lines up then sure they have enough to make a deep playoff run, but their roster on paper and watching them does not scream championship

You gotta be that good, have you comp be that bad, healthy, and lucky for 3 straight years to 3 peat. Thats a tall order and most of it is beyond your control.

They lost 2 key contributors. I know all people wanna talk about is the stars but quality role players are the difference between champion and perennial playoff team. Those margins are way thinner than people realize. Quality role players help you get through the season without killing your star. They make those little plays that folks dont remember that keys a comeback or keeps a team at bay in the playoffs. Losing 2 without replacing them is a death knell.

Denver is ass, been ass.
And that title they got is a weak 1.

They should have been swept by the Lakers 1st round last year

The 718
Thats not how we measure that :russell:
...it literally is.

If it's a shortened season, obviously you have to adjust the criteria. We're talking the quality of the teams, not an arbitrary number. 50 wins is just an easy reference for a full season, but the real number to look at is win percentage.

So why didn't they

Terrible play at the end of games by the Lakers.
The Lakers lead for like 75% of that whole series.

Even when they won the series, their fans should have seen the writing on the wall. But they get too caught up in the joker hype.
That team is ass

Westbrook went on a crazy final 35-40 games with the Wizards though.

Denver isn’t getting that off the bench
He did and they got bounced in the 1st round of the playoffs. Haven't been back since.

Dude is like the silver surfer of the nba. Once he show's up the clock starts ticking on when Galactus touches down and drains your playoff hopes until your drafting players like Sarr or asking 35 year old James Harden to turn the clock back a decade so you don't give Cooper Flagg to the Thunder.
