Even if the FOs has the bread to pay to the luxury tax, the 2nd tax apron penalties are going to be too brutal to make it not worth it. It's why I don't under the format as even smaller market teams that manage to develop a competitive team are going to run into the same issues.
I think the bigger franchises would endure it for a year if need be, but yes it does curtail egregious spending for everyone in general. If you told the clippers or suns that they had a generational player with a somewhat injured core, I think they would’ve just resigned KCP to a short term deal and went for it 1-2 more years.

Why would KCP or another player do that if other teams are offering more years/money?

I can like the nikka off the court but i know when hes on the court his play style (at this point in his career) Cant help me win a title
That’s you breh. It’s pretty clear that players don’t feel like that. He’s been requested by two top 30 players OAT that were both in the midst of championship windows.

Whether right or wrong, it ain’t hard to tell why he keeps getting chances :yeshrug:

They got clearly worse after losin Bruce and JG especially Bruce. There was a lot of playoff games where Bruce was better than MPJ or AG in some games. He had some random ass monster games that had a nikka like :dahell: his game fit perfect in their system

Then after having the biggest game 7 choke ever at home they lose KCP one of the elite 3&D players of this whole era. Proven championship role player on different teams.

They bench was like 26th or 27th last season and Braun was one of the reasons it wasn't last. Now Braun startin.... If Russ is cooked there a chance they got the worst bench in the league and startin lineup won't be as strong as wit KCP was. Wit new CBA they don't got flexibility wit contracts they got. They in TROUBLE.

I don’t know and my post wasn’t centered around an attempt to get into his mind. It was about the efforts a cheaper FO would go to payoff the last few years of a window vs a richer one.

Denver had no replacement for a 3 and D guard/wing. Match the offer he got on the market or exceed it to make a shorter term deal doable. That’s just how I view things. Take a year or two of future flexibility to the chin :yeshrug:

no Bruce Brown no KCP...they became top heavy and now have to depend a lot more on Murray and Jokic :manny: not sure what people thought would happen

Russ is a non-factor at this point in his career.
