It’s dying off us, the purists, not the overall fans. I gotta keep in mind that the game is geared towards the fans that don’t care about defensive schemes or “4 down”, types of plays.
would you like to know why? :unimpressed:

its simple::yeshrug:

those people PAY to go to games oddly enough ....its an event to them...its to have fun:sas2:

all the so-called purists that call everyone 'casuals' that dont know all the obscure stats yall argue about on here....DON'T PAY TO GO TO GAMES....

yall sit on your couch and complain and post on here about the state of the game....arguing about kobe and mj and lebron and legacies (which is actually ridiculous by the way)

this thread is case & point

so explain again WHY the nba (which is a business at the end of the day) should care what purists have to say?

If these purists have kids and aren't watching anymore or are just casually watching without showing much emotional involvement anymore, it'll create a problem as they're not passing on the love of the game to their kids the same way.

A lot of sports love and interest comes from the parents.

Lol, n a ratings are in a 10 year drop.
They will get a deal because all platforms want live broadcast.

That said with Fox, ESPN, and Warner teaming up for a sports network I expect that will drive prices down or further take NBA away from broadcast TV and make it a niche sport.

When it becomes a niche sport will you still watch after football is over?

The fact that they brought in a WNBA player to compete against Curry, shows how desperate they were for viewers.

As for the dunk contest, they’re only so many dunks that you can do. Most if not all have already been done. The games themselves haven’t been competitive in a long time because the players don’t care, and they make so much money now that there’s no monetary incentive.

That's not really an excuse. When you adjust for inflation, the top players in the 2000s make about the same as today's players. And back then the stars made more off shoe deals. These young guys just don't love the game.

Inflated scoring numbers :scust:

Dunk contest been flabby since Obama was in office :flabbynsick:

Every team plays the same way and spams 3’s

Going to games and getting decent seats is a day’s worth of pay :damn:

What has Silver done to our league :to:
The NBA is bigger than it's ever been on a global scale but ok we should def listen to a guy online with nothing to support belief :mjlol:

The NBA itself is never going to die, it's just the NBA you grew up on is on it's last legs. It happens as you get older, some of y'all grew up on Jordan, Magic, Bird, etc so of course the game is not going to feel the same especially with the different rule changes. I grew up on Lebron, kobe, melo etc so the new stars weren't that interesting to me, but my little cousins and nephews like the ballers like Antman, Tatum, and Shai, etc.

I'm no longer going to complain about it because it's not for me and it's not my era :yeshrug:

Post the NBA numbers then not the all-star numbers.
The question isn't dumb our understanding of it is.

And if you really wanna post the numbers, to indicate that it's dying, post the global numbers.

Not that I care about what random people have on in the background while playing with their phones but this is what I found on a quick google.

Seems like minus the Heat-era, it's been pretty flat for 20 years in the US and increasing elsewhere.
Well the super bowl just had their highest rated game of all time. The last NBA finals was the lowest rated ever. Glad to see all star sat had some higher viewership. The WNBA shoot out had a lot to do with that. I had people on my social media that don't even watch basketball hyped for it. And they said that's when ratings peaked.

Curious what the actual game got last night

Ur missing out on some solid regular season games then :yeshrug:

Maybe it’s because my team (the Magic) actually plays hard defense every night that I’m enjoying this season

I hope we get the Knicks in the playoffs simply because those are two teams to at get nasty and play tough
