You wouldn't know a "cold hard fact" if it hit you right in the face. Here you're talking about about the '60s and '70s as arguably the most competitive in history when there was a quota on how many black players were allowed on each team for a good portion of the '60s - this is all without mentioning:
the lack of teams and talent
the lack of extra playoff rounds/games, travel that would affect one team from having a long-term dominance
the lack of player development (little to no generational framework of playing at a young age) and players working a second job in the offseason
the talent disparity when picking out of draft/player pools, and teams less likely to grab generational talent
the RnG offenses which had 110+ possessions per game (compared to the average of 95 today) which would favor teams with more offensive talent, because little to no defense was played in the 60s/70s
