The music that's considered R&B these days is just all over the place

You listen to him now and listen to him then he doesnt sound the same. Well.....he does and he doesnt. His voice has gotten a little deeper but in a good way.

Puerta Medusa.
So much misguided polemics in these threads that periodically crop up. It just ain't true.

I could easily point to at least 50 artists that came up over the last few years making music that "has flavour" or involves a high degree of talent within the R&B vein (which by the way is nowhere near as uniform as you guys make it out to be).

Music tv and radio still cater to the same age group they did when you were 5/10 years younger so how on earth do you expect to find things suited to your tastes there?

and @DarlingNikki

Lol. I stand by why I said. The 90's was filled with stank brefs, hollering and whining ass nikkas. :yeshrug:

I don't think this has to do with anything about being trapped in the 90's,
More so of,
The lack thereof of musical talent within our urban community,
In these modern times.

so true and the sad thing is that folks actually think they can sing too because they're getting played on the radio or have a record deal. :to:

:shaq2: Didn't this same shyt happen with Hip Hop in the mid-200s?
:comeon: Leave it to the old heads to hate on the few good, younger singers we have today

However :whoa: I do agree that Trey Songz is garbage bin status

:what: But Frank Ocean, Ne-Yo, and The Weeknd??
:beli: Naw...

:rudy: nikka, Trey gets your momma's p*ssy wet.

Have some respect

Well you can stand by it and while it's true to a degree,
Ginuwine did not have anything like a bad voice :comeon:

And if you prefer singers with subtlety D'Angelo is better than most.

 There is plenty of good music out there you just have to find it. If people want to listen to this "souless" commercial music, so what? If you aren't feeling it then seek out what you are looking for yourself. You aren't going to find it listening to the radio and complaining all day. With pandora, youtube, music forums etc. there's no reason for these stupid threads to keep being made. Find that "Put me on to some new R&B" thread in The Booth.

Ginuwine was mediocre. D'Angelo sounded stank. I'll take Maxwell over anyone's fav.
Nobody that has listened to The Bachelor from start to finish would tell me that Ginuwine was mediocre.

And you're gonna have to go into detail on this "stank" (:mindblown:) thing cause I can't smell shyt.

Thank god we can at least agree on Maxwell :obama:

Anybody can sing when they're voice is edited, Ginuwine was mediocre, not sayin he was talentless but he wasn't spectacular.
He has that funky sound.. Lol.

He sounds exactly the same live as he does on track. But clearly we aren't going to agree on Ginuwine so I'll leave it at that.

Aah I see. To me funk is a given. Can't really appreciate a lot of hip-hop if you don't have an ear for it, so I don't mind if it bleeds into soul and R&B occasionally. They're all so closely related that it's often unhelpful to make a distinction
