Mean Streets is a good movie. Scorcese definitely thought keitel was the standout actor out of all those guys.
I love mean streets. So many little scenes that are funny and just cool af. Scorcese really starting to show what he could do with the camera. It was a prequel to Goodfellas in a way. Most of that movie was filmed in L.A. tho.

Mean Streets is on netflix too. Scorcese's first movie. Has deniro too.
I never finished that one, but he’s had movies before mean streets

Still, he has at least one classic in every decade since the 70s, think about that :wow:

70s
taxi driver

80s
Raging bull

90s
Goodfellas
Casino

00’s
Departed

10’s
Wolf of Wall Street

Killers of the Flower Moon with DeNiro and Leo in the 20’s coming up

I love at least two Paul Shrader movies, Light Sleeper and Blue Collar, highly underrated director to me, and Taxi Driver, is one I need to watch in it's entirety, still. I have read Killers of the Flower Moon, which was a very dope book, and I think could be an even better movie, in the right hands. It is a true story of murder and oil in Oklahoma, with the planned killings of Native Americans to take their oil claims.

Another grimy NYC movie in the 70's is Panic In Needle Park, which is Pacino's first role, I believe.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
I remember the first time I watched it, I didn't like it. I went in expecting to see Goodfellas instead of a psychological thriller. It took me a few times to watch it and appreciate what a great movie that it was. The same thing also happened when I watched Silence of the Lambs.

I'm old enough to remember when the NY Post used to have ads for XXX movies in the movies section, like it was a "normal" thing to do.

:dead: at the fact that they alternated ads for hard core XXX porn and mainstream blockbusters.

Plus, the "Classified" section of EVERY tabloid paper (NY Post, Daily News, Newsday) used to have an "escorts" section. I'm sure they want us all to forget about that now.

The village voice until like 5 years ago basically lived off of escort adds in the back until Craigslist/ backpages killed them. The whole newspaper went out to print and it was on the low a great alt newspaper.
