Flat out calling Nigerians a model minority is a major boost.

Next thread we gonna be talking about how they are arrogant as hell :dead:

save that model minority shyt for Indian and Chinese brehs... no hate.
That's been how they play it for a while.
Chinese and Indians already "moved up".
Process failed with Caribbeans, they stopped playing the game + a lot got caught up.
Africans next.
East Africans don't get talked about until it's time to scare minnesota cacs.
No bragging or articles in regards to habesha folks and they're doing aight.
Kenyans don't try to stand out so I don't know much about y'all.

The Coli's daddy, Tariq Nasheed, told us that the white supremacists allow for this phenomenon to occur.

When ever I see AAs talking about these "elite" arrogant Africans they are 98% of the times talking about Nigerians. Amongst actual Africans Nigerians are known as scammers lol. From % stand up Nigerian Immigrants make up the bulk of Africans who are allowed to come to the US which is already a tiny number (compared to other places where a Country like Mexico alone gets more visas than the entire African Continent).

Nigerians arent used as the official model, but they are used to play Blacks against each other. Where whites will be on some "Tyrone, Why can't you be more like Tunde :troll:"
Up until relatively recently Canadian cacs used to think all Black people were Jamaican so they didn't have the luxury up here of having Black people go at each other. Despite that Black people still go at each other :dead:

Nigerians get a bad rap everywhere indeed even with fellow Africans. Despite that I salute them brehs for their drive. I respect their arrogance.

At the end of the day many blacks don't interact with many blacks from other ethnic groups thus mofos think other black ethnic groups are aliens. The hilarious thing is how similar we all are yet dudes act like everyone exist on different planets.

As far as Nigerians are concerned, like I said they have the numbers so most of the stereotypes stem from them whether good or bad. Even the stereotypical "African Accent" is one making fun of Nigerians lol. And to be clear I'm not ragging on them because I grew up with several cool Nigerians but like I said the numbers are on their side so usually when someone is talking about an African in America they are talking about a Nigerian. The same way "Islands" in America is pretty much synonymous with Jamaicans.

Kenyans don't have stong communities like Nigerians overseas. We either blend in or some play token roles but you won't notice us cuz we not that arrogant.

yup

Even as an African I used to go to the bars where brehs speak swahili in my city and hang with them folks but I stopped. everyone was not welcoming. they want to stay stuck doing what they know.

I mingle with Black people from everywhere but only those who are welcoming and those of us that are open definitely find common ground.

Based on your research, how will Blacks build wealth if they stopped coveting name-brand clothing?

you keep using this term "blacks", when I'm specifically speaking on african americans.

i'm also speaking on CULTURE, I gave an example (which you ran with), so your question is based on the assumption that If we stop doing X it will lead to Y.

I never implied or said that - but are we really doing this though? we're really pretending that my post is the first time this has EVER been discussed in the history of black america? :jbhmm:

i'm apparently the first person in the history of life on earth that has brought up the fact that our spending habits, and lack of investing in ourselves, collectively have been detrimental to our community

That doesnt suprise me, most Nigerians I know are educated and have good jobs/hustles.

Yup. the funny thing about Trump's desire to keep Nigerians out is that they consistently send their educated people here, which is exactly what you need in order to remain a formidable world power (you take everyone else's best and brightest as your own citizens). What a dumbass.

My people are from a Mande tribe so in the states nobody even knows I'm "African" lol. Even in school folks would think my moms was from the Islands at most, and see me and be like "Oh dang you African? I thought you was Black".

Even other Africans don't know my background unless I tell them. I probably fly under the radar since many AAs share the same Ancestral orgins as I do compared to other African groups.

I-20 from DTP is Liberian and nobody knows lol and Alvin Kamara from the saints is fam and nobody knows his parents are Liberian but us lol.

Both sides make some good points tbh.

On one hand we should acknowledge the hard work and determination it took these brehs to come to a new country, keep their families together and away from negativity, grinding to put their kids through college etc.. If anything all black people should learn from these brehs and what they are doing right. :manny:

On the other hand, this does not mean that Nigerians as a whole should be put on some type of pedestal. Those who have historically come to the US and the UK have been very focused on education, if not for themselves then for their children. But if you look at other parts of Europe for instance, the Nigerians in those countries are not known for their high level of education. If anything, they are known for organized crime :francis:

This discussion would be more fruitful if it was a bit more nuanced.

We do "Go and get it by any means" or we wouldn't be here.
White people already did this with Jamaicans until they had no further use for their educated and criminal classes.
@Retired Nigerians tend to not be poor.
Somalis, Liberians, etc...do.
Unlike Canada, it's not a few tiny pockets of black people spread through 2 major cities.
It's about a million foreign blacks moving RIGHT UP NEXT TO black americans who were already here, already doing whatever these folks are getting praise for.
These articles are just like the articles about jamaicans they used to write before they got ejected and/or forced to lean back as a group in the US.
"So hard working". But..."posses..."
Coming from the same cacs who didn't pay nikkas for building the shyt.
Let cacs hype y'all up instead of worrying about hyping up your home countries instead of hopping in the video to hustle.
You went old school with the Jamaicans.

I tend to use "Black" synonymously with "AADOS".

Addressing your post:
(1) What are Black people spending their money on?
(2) What do you mean by "investing in ourselves"?

In other words, what are you even talking about? You boiled Black culture down to 'coveting name-brand products', not necessarily buying name brand products; and you stated we don't emphasize education. Black people spend less than $500 annually on apparel (low-income Blacks). In addition, more Blacks graduate college today than in previous years.

Where is your point that Black culture is the cause of our decline in the U.S. shown in your research? You never really made a point just restated a common talking point that has been reverberated through the years by White people that want to gloss over the more pressing reasons as to why Blacks, on average, fail in America.
