have been saying this on thecoli for a couple of years. every nigerian i met was educated and/or street smart. even the ones i used to work in a warehouse with used to always read books during their free time and had their kids attend private schools to give them a higher chance at getting into a good college. successful or excellence is the best way to describe their culture.

China isn’t “pulling itself” out of anything. Their rise has been entirely subsidized by WHITE western interests
But they have managed to beat the west at their own game from a financial standpoint. ALl western companies had mastered exploiting cheap chinese labor and Noone had a problem with that UNTIL they realized China had became a beast of it's own. Now their hands is stuck in the cookie jar so they stigmatize everything about China because China isnt just in the market cheap labor contracts anymore. All the big development contracts that used to go to US, French, British companies are being given to China so all they sudden these superpowers got beef. But for them to move these manufacturing infrastructures out of China would be cost-prohibitive. Meanwhile Chinahas taken most of the Central and South American markets from underneath them.

Always follow the money

In the sky
Nigerians have the same average iq as aa dos. According to the data, they’re the only Blacks on the planet that are AS SMART AS AADOS

Having said that, im not entirely convinced that Nigerians have a great culture overall. If they did, Nigeria would be a great, and powerful nation
This is artificial seeing as how Nigeria itself has horribly managed resources to the point where the people are poor for no reason at all. This isn't impressive or even news worthy. It's actually silly. :francis:

Truth of the matter is I dont think Nigerians are any smarter than anyone else ..... I think everyone has an equal level of intelligence ...

HOWEVER what i will say is culturally education is the be all and end all ..... simply because like most third world countries unless you have a good education , can sing like Davido or can play football like Mikel your chances of having a comfortable life are low

You can be a truck driver for example in the United states and still have a comfortable life.... that aint happening in Nigeria hence the great push for education .... Gina yashere has a joke where she says there are three professions in Nigeria "doctor , lawyer and failure" .... I schooled in Nigeria for about 5 years and the pressure to succeed in education is overwhelming , in my opinion its too much but it is the great equaliser

In Nigeria people dont go into politics to benefit the nation, they go into politics to make money .... its that simple , Nigerian senators are the highest paid in the world ..... Nigeria is the only place where people go from being state governors (maximum of 2 terms) to senators because there is that much money ...

The political class is an entity unto itself ..... as my Dad always tells me honest people dont go into politics .... also if you were really honest you wouldnt last half a day , the system is designed so that anyone with good intentions wouldnt get anywhere

Anyone who thinks Nigerian politicians are incompetent or stupid hasnt been around them as I have , those crooks are smart as fukk ,

It is the bragging about it that is silly. The bragging about how well you are doing in his Country while your Country is referred to as a shythole is just stupid. I look at the how the Chinese and even the people of India are pulling themselves out of their condition, while we are still standing in place or worse yet about to be victims of the Chinese and Indians.
Both India and China are not developing unaided, and there is a world of difference between them and Nigeria.
Nigeria is also developing, rapidly building global cities, and producing fantastic innovation.
If they had god-tier central planning and weren’t surrounded countries knee-deep in long-lasting conflict, they’d do even better.

(A) Blackmeninamerica is not a credible site. And Boyce Watkins is not a credible person. I've created a thread or so on Boyce Watkins showing his complete incompetence when it comes to investing.

(B) Black banks aren't the gateway towards Black prosperity either. The community earns way too little money to sufficiently help a Black bank operate. I don't know whether you know it or not, but the expansion and contraction of deposits is primarily due to the fractional reserve system. 'Fractional reserve system' being a regulation imposed on the banks by the Federal Reserve stating it (the bank) must hold, with the Federal Reserve, a certain percentage of the deposits within their bank. I.E., you deposit $10, and the bank must hold $2 (or 20%) with the Federal Reserve, but can borrow $3-8 to a business for instance (hypothetical scenario).

When banks run low on their reserve requirements, they could borrow from the nearest reserve bank, or the bank could just not loan money outward (the banks primary source of income), and sell its own securities off. This impacts the bank in a negative way. And, I haven't even touched on the government increasing interest rates which negatively impact banks where they have to borrow from each other. Black banks don't have enough capital to borrow from one another as is because they are trying to stay afloat. The Black community simply doesn't have the capital in today's landscape.

Boyce Watkins is a PhD on paper, but he doesn't exemplify any skill or wisdom when it comes to talking about finance. He is an incompetent.

(D) India doesn't even hold those cultural attitudes which is why their country is lagging behind the developed world. You speak as if Indians, and these other groups, have exceptional value systems without acknowledging the fact that these people come from impoverished countries. If their value systems were so exceptional, why are they fleeing and begging to come to countries like the U.S. or Canada?

As for where I got the information on Black people spending less than $500 annually on apparel:

Income and spending patterns among Black households : Beyond the Numbers: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics
Black banks are a great start, the idea is that the bank is Black-owned and operated, without predatory lending practices, and with a focus on things like "building societies," low-interest student loans, easy to invest savings practices, etc. Development can be focused on the Black community, without exclusively having Black bank members.
Look at Vista Equity Partners (while not the fully ideal model), its a private equity firm run and majority-owned by a Black man, with specific programmes to help start-up and accelerate Black businesses, but its not composed entirely of Black companies.

Outside of that, the cultural arguments :hubie:

They do quite a bit.
A lot of people truly seem to forget that while Nigeria has made massive leaps and bounds, and its growth is accelerating (largely from oil output), a large chunk of the population (particularly the North) is incredibly poor, in an incredibly unstable environment, and doesn't have options that "study hard and innovate" can necessarily provide.
