A bit back on topic here let's see the face of the devil
That's the face of the devil b, King Leopold the 2nd. The Hitler of the Congo. He killed so many people they can only guess. 10 million? 15?
Had the entire country enslaved. One story that shows his 'mercy' is when the world price of rubber rose. He forced each town to make quotas, and if they didn't he cut their hands off... And he was supposed to be there to 'improve' the lives of the locals.
To think Lumumba would have known THAT history and believed in a future where his people finally reaped from the very land that their blood had sown...
But we know the world never works that way. Too many people had too much at stake with those resources. And they weren't going to allow one man to stop them.
I never considered all these things before, but this is one of the most important assassinations. To me it's important to remember what it connects to. The face of evil. The same evil that haunts the Congo today.
