Unless America stops being America, and turns into another country... Football will still be king.

You acting like Football is Evisu jeans or Throwbacks

This forum acts like every sport they don't fukk with is an NBC sitcom on the chopping block.

If America were to truly keep being America, no one would give a damn about all these concussions, but the powers that be do. The ones that don't hate athletes too much to care about their well being.

Care about what now?
the mere THOUGHT of the NFL not being as popular as it is now clearly bothers to you to where you're plugging your fingers into your ears yelling LA LA LA LA LA at any possible scenario where the NFL declining at some point is merely mentioned.

youre acting as if I started this thread. I've been a staunch NFL viewer way before people gave a shyt about these internet "my sport is better than yours" silly rivalries created by message boards and blogs. Soccer isnt on my radar...if its on yours that's great. The saltiness regarding the NFL's popularity is pretty bizarre. Enjoy the games....enjoy what you like. DOnt be a rain cloud because youre confused why football is so popular.

They really don't tho, especially when NFL players actually prefer concussions to leg injuries:heh:

where are the soccer players with CTE and ALS as a result of these headers?

where are the suicides and murder-suicides by soccer players, wrought by years of consistent violence on the pitch?

who are the retired players that report not being able to handle loud prolonged sound or bright lights?

You don't know shyt. Studies have found that 1) soccer players do get concussions and 2) they suffer in the same cognitive longitudinal sense that football players do:

"A review of existing studies published online recently in the journal Brain Injury, Schweizer examined how often concussions occur in soccer.

One study revealed that nearly 63 percent of varsity soccer players had symptoms of a concussion at some point, but only about 19 percent knew it. In another study, nearly 82 percent of players who had at least one concussion had two or more of these head injuries. The research found that those who suffered one concussion had a 3.15 times greater chance of having another one than players who never had this type of injury.

A separate study also revealed that soccer-related concussions accounted for 15 percent of all sports concussions. Girls' soccer was second only to football for sports-related concussions, accounting for 8.2 percent of these head injuries, the study found.

The long-term result of these head injuries included problems with memory, planning and perception, the review found. One study noted that professional soccer players who engaged in the most heading performed the worst on verbal and visual memory tests as well as tests of their attention span. A separate study also found older and retired players had significant problems with conceptual thinking, reaction times and concentration.

The studies that involved brain imaging found players who suffered concussions had physical changes to their brain."

The bolded in intalics implies brain damage and CTE. Do your research before you question me.

but the risks of soccer dont touch those of football. stop it.

NFL players aren't the powers that be though. They'd be the first ones to tell you that this is the life they chose. They're too far gone to be told otherwise by anyone else.

Didn't the NFL have James Harrison's knockout hits up for sale, while they tried to punish him for the same shyt?

fans love the big hits, ESPN ran a weekly segment for years glorifying said types of hits, This years #1 pick had a year long replay of a hit the NFL supposedly doesn't want anymore.

The NFL cares about concussions as much as it does gay rights and breast cancer... just enough to make some money off it:yes:

so it's a niche sport then, got it.

If you want to call it a niche sport, fine. However, although Soccer is the number sport in the world, it hasn't a league on the face of this earth that generates more revenue than the National Football League. Soccer is a niche sport here in America.

Let's not act like the USA is the Dominican Republic. We talking about the NFL being the number 1 sport in the third largest country on earth, with 313.9 million people...many of whom live better than the rest of the world's population. Only China and India are bigger than the US and they aren't producing any soccer stars. So if you exclude those two countries for all intents and purposes, the the major sport in one of the world's largest countries is American Football. The early growth of modern soccer began in the 1300's, so it has a lot of years on American Football, which is relatively young. Also, soccer is more readily accessible in many areas of the world, not expensive and you don't need major equipment to play it.

Finally, no other sports league outside the U.S. - Soccer included (as I stated) - generates more money than the NFL, not even close, and money makes the world go around. So if you want to call it a niche sport, like it's phukin Lacrosse, despite the fact that it's loved in a country with a population of 300 million....so be it.
