Of course the ATL
Atlas
Hayakawa
Lazy Betty
Mujo

*Green star
Bacchanalia

This is the first year that we’ve had Michelin starred so it will take some time for them to get out to all the restaurants

But Busy Bee got recognized by Michelin as a Bib Gourmand (Good quality restaurant) and Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours did get recognized as well by Michelin so this article is somewhat misleading.

Atlanta is a cool city but it isn’t even the top food place in its own region. Charleston and New Orleans are def up there, and Miami and Houston might have a better food scene also

Lies. The Atlanta food scene is as diverse and strong as any metro in the Southeast. I’d put New Orleans over us and Charleston for seafood but we can go toe to toe with any city in the South with our food scene which has exploded over the last 10-15 years. Growing up you used to only find high end dining in Buckhead, now you’ve got great restaurants of all types of cuisine all over the city

I honestly can’t think of a black owned restaurant I would say deserves a star here. Food usually isnt actually that good at the sit down spots, people just overhype it because they play music and it’s a “vibe”.

Go check out Low Country Steakhouse by G Garvin off 10th & West Peachtree. G Garvin is also the Hawks new Chief Culinary Officer

I’ve been there. I wouldn’t say it deserves a star, ironically the steaks are not as tender as you would find at a high end steakhouse. I found the seafood was better than the steaks.

If I were to recommend a black owned sit down spot it would be Oreathas over off Cascade.

My wife and I went to Low Country right after it opened and they were still figuring out the menu but that’s one of the better high end black owned restaurants in the city. I grew up goin to soul food spots around town like The Beautiful, Cascade Grill (RIP), JJs Rib Shack, Busy Bee, etc but I’ll definitely check out Oreathas

I think the challenge now is we have a lot of black owned restaurants but not as many willing to venture outside of soul food or brunch/vibe spots. We need more black owned restaurants willing to do different types of food

I agree 100%. Like you have Asian/Latin fusion spots doing well we should have some Soul fusion type of spots . We need more black restaurants that go away from traditional meat and 3 or brunch and put our spin on other types of cuisine.

That reataurant I recommended does just that. If you like catfish. I recommend the Thai fried catfish with coconut grits. The drinks are good too.

I didn’t know Low Country was black owned. I prefer them over most Cajun boil restaurants. Wings in the bag with everything? :ohlawd:
