I noticed some of my black folks flunked out of the STEM programs at my college because of being overwhelmed leading to them become stuck.

Sorry to hear that. I'm not STEM but I have noticed that it takes me a longer time to get to work and school. I procrastinate getting up which is unusual for me. However, my grades are good this semester. But I'm not sure why it's taking me a long time to handle my business

Which college?

Nova Southeastern Univeristy and Florida Atlantic University.

Had a dude I knew who was smart, went to Florida A & M and flunked out.

I really think it is an issue that needs to be addressed.

I've considered starting a 501c research study group/think tank to produce abstracts. And get grants to be able to publish studies, the mental health agenda is too disjointed.

My black folks should also get a mental health inventory (MHI) if they work in the corporate America, because having too many blind spots around white folks is a recipe for disaster. You never want to be in the business of surprises, knowing is half the battle.

Which patients interested you the most? Those with ego-dystonic or ego-systonic presentation?

The Ego-dystonic patients are less difficult, but you have to use the Freudian therapeutic model which means you have to use the full range of theory.

Ego-systonic patients are more difficult, the Freudian therapeutic model doesn't work and Freud realize this when these patients could not do free association, so the Theory of Mind (ToM) model is what they use and the theory is not so cumbersome. But tracking can be a challengein ToM model. While psycho-dynamic (Freudian) is more focused on mapping.

Patients who display both actually. More common than most people know.

Ya know after what happened to me tonite I totally understand suicide now. I didnt get it when my friend hanged himself in 8th grade but I get it now

Put yourself in my shoes. If you had been dealing with the feel of impending doom, feeling like a failure/inadequate, low self esteem and depression since you were 12 and these things just kept coming back no matter what improvements you made in your life, you'd feel hopeless and ready to end it all too. Like, I'll make strides in my life and feel temporarily positive only for the bad feelings and bad mental state to return eventually, and once it returns I cant fight it and it cripples me. Like Kurt Cobain. Overcame a lot in his life, only to keep falling back into the same pitfalls of despair. Edit: My chest fukkin physically hurts from this now

I feel like I'll never be able to overcome it

Ya know what I mean?

Ive posted this before in another thread. Im still struggling with it so I plan to visit a doctor soon

I just noticed this post.

One thing for sure, I do wish I would have came across psychology a lot earlier in life, especially in my teens.

Life would have been so much easier, it wasn't until my senior year of college when I finally realized how much impact mental health can have on my life.

This is why I think increasing awareness and spreading the message can go a long way. If college folks know at the minimum it can improve grades, they would be interested.

I push mental health a lot for corporate folks, especially. Cause that mental toughness will make you unstoppable just because you won't be so unsure and uncertain.

It really does. I've struggled with mental health issues most of my life including my who adolescence and adulthood. When I'm feeling low (as I have been for the past 6 months my work suffers a lot and I dont care enough to get to work on time or reach out for assistance. Awareness is key but it's not the only thing you need.

I've been dealing with it since I was 8. I'm 28 now. Tbh the only reason I haven't tried more times to off myself is because I truly believe life is a wonderful thing and something to enjoy even if it hurts like hell.
