Fair enough.

Although I understand the point others make that the triple double is kind of an arbitrary way to look at things.

Consider that in the 1986-87 season the Chicago Bulls were 22-15 when Michael Jordan scored at least 40 points in a game. And they were 18-27 when he scored less than 40.

By your logic, Michael scoring 40 points led to more winning. But 40 points is arguably just as arbitrary as a Triple Double. And in the end the team itself wasn't very good, so how valuable was he really?

The league noticed. Jordan finished 2nd to Magic Johnson in the MVP voting that year.

Though to be fair, maybe you do think Jordan deserved it in 87. In which case you see a good comparison.

I'm just saying that like 40 points, a Triple Double might mean less than it appears.

I'll let @The Dankster speak for himself tho.

So you agree that Westbrook is the single worst defender in the league and an inefficient volume shooter? :jbhmm:

:wow: LETS TALK ABOUT THE MEANING(LESSNESS)
OF BRONS FINALS TRIPLE DOUBLE.

THESE ARE SOME OF THE MOST DISGUSTING PEOPLE ON EARTH.

I'm both a Russy and Bron fan so I don't apply to the hypocrite argument :yeshrug:

I personally think accusing players of "stat padding" or having "empty stats" is one of the wackest and dumbest talking points a supposed fan of a sport can have.

When someone starts arguing that Lebron should be Finals MVP because he got more than ten rebounds, then we'll start talking about hypocrisy.

Lebron played fantastic in the Finals, far better than Westbrook played in the regular season, but it had little to do with rebounds.

Except there has been folk who've tried to argue that LeBron should've been Finals MVP because he averaged a triple double, but again that's not really the point (point being how LeBron's Finals performance is judged based on surface #s). The hole of hypocrisy that folk fall into is not acknowledging that both manipulate their box score numbers, the only difference is, one is more blatant than the other with his method.

Westbrook's triple doubles are meaningless, because the triple double itself is meaningless.

This is not true at all.

Laides and Gentlemen... We got em:wow:

@32:30 - Royce Young: Steven Adams has never been a big rebound guy in terms of numbers. So, ya know, the Thunder have always kind of done it by committee. Um... and, or really what they've done is they've boxed people out and let Westbrook get it for statistical purposes.

*Laughter*

Ian Begley(Knicks beat writer): I was gonna say, wait wai.. cau.. yea, didn't Melo make a point of mentioning something about that, that uh...

Young: Exactly

Begley: Westbrook's taking his rebounds away?
