You gotta feel for David Flair, tbh. The least favorite of Ric's kids, who had no passion or interest in the wrestling business but got shoved into it and put in extremely prominent positions while essentially untrained AND having the legacy of the GOAT as his dad on his shoulders. Failed miserably because he had no aptitude, training, or passion for it and was just doing it to bond with his father, who was clearly embarrassed of David and it just strained the relationship further. And since, Ric has basically written David out of the family legacy completely and devoted his life to Reid and then Charlotte. It's actually very sad and somewhat disturbing at how much more Ric loved/loves Reid and Charlotte over David.

This dude talks about how much he loved his dead son more than he's ever talked about how much he loved his living son. And then there's the other daughter that he never mentions, either.

I know we all love the macho man but what are your thoughts on his mid life crisis phase in 1999? His knees were shot and he was coked out of his mind, there was not much left for him to do besides cut promos while standing in the ring dressed up in pimp suits looking like some uncle trying to look cool. I think it was Dave who reported that in 99 Savage, Hogan and Piper (maybe a few more guys) went to management saying that they wouldn't accept being called old on TV, by either other wrestlers or the commentary. :mjlol:

I loved it but Mach is admittedly my all time favorite so there is an obvious bias. But I dug the edge they gave his character, and Gorgeous George was perfect to go along with it.

He probably got too much of a push in the summer of 99, I remember many a Nitro those months, when the show was 3 hours, that it seemed like he was constantly in a segment.

But when you look at what else they had to offer at the top of the card, he was as good an option as anyone else.

All of that said, the feud with Rodman was terrible

He was also part of that horrible white hummer angle.

shyt was just bizarre, spanned too many months and was never resolved (to my knowledge)

I might be in the minority but he pulled off the psycho shyt pretty well..he was more entertaining doing that and copying his fathers high spots in the ring than whatever Charlotte is doing now....also didnt think too highly of Reid in ring abilities either :manny:

Remember when Hoegan took liberties with David Flair went too far and gave him that royal belt whipping at souled out 99 that made ric flair legit cry? :lolbron:

To this day no one knows why Hoegan did it. According to rics book he never forgave him. Heh, that was probably the only thing out of that ppv that wasn't outright terrible or ho-hum. However its still an L for wcw since it led to the horrendous first blood cage match at uncensored.
