Fixing housing at the national level isn't easy, not that Joe "in the pocket of creditors" Biden has ever been particularly interested in that anyway. What I called you out on was the bullshyt deflection of "Republican NC" as if that means that the president, senate, governor, mayor, and city council now have zero responsibility for policy.

His best bet was to get a home when rates were low using the variety of first time home buyer, mortgage and down payment assistance programs. That’s still the case TBH.

Except, you know, that housing prices were setting new records every year of the last decade, and even after the recent drop are still TWICE what they were when Obama came into office. I want an America were everyone can own their home, but it certainly isn't viable right now especially with all the other debt on people's accounts.

Ironically, affordable housing is probably the largest tenant of his campaign and we’re not even discussing his views on it. Which kinda of highlights how DoA has campaign appears.

Would have been beautiful to see Obama push for this in 2009/10 as a condition for saving the banks that fukked up the market in the first place.

I think the main difficulty citizens have forcing this issue is that too many of the people affected most by the problem are also the ones with the least time and access to be politically effective. When you're scratching and clawing just to have a place to live, it's harder to get into the places to make your voice heard.

Also, WAY too many Democrats are themselves on the side of landlords and housing speculators, and don't want reform anyway because personal profits are more important to them.
