Certain posters will always discredit a team. But the majority would've crownded gs had they won back to back. I said before game 7 if the dubs won they are top 5.Except it's not. Did you not read my post properly?
The Cavs won under those circumstances and this board crowned them. If the Warriors won under those circumstances this board would say how the league is rigged and how they were lucky because of the Cavs' injuries.
That is not "almost the same" at all. Dudes were already saying that the Warriors were only going to win G7 if the refs were in their back pocket.
They ran through the east with no problems and swept the conference finals. Then went up 2-1 before fatigue set in and Kerr made great adjustments. To me the dubs are the goat team to not win. But this years squad gotta go behind the other chip winning squads. As far as a multiple season stretch if either team is fortunate enough to win it all they might reenter the conversation.
Bros you can go in the game thread itself and find Warriors fan saying Bogut presence or lack thereof didn't mean shyt and how last year he was a liability and they still won come.on brehski
Nobody likes to talk about this, but if the roles were reversed:
Cavs up 3-1 when both teams at basically full-strength
Cavs player suspended in G5
Cavs player injured in G5 and out for the rest of the series
Cavs player injured in G6 and becoming a non-factor
Warriors win G7
it would be the main talking point for the rest of the offseason - about how "rigged" it was in their favor and how "lucky" they were because of said circumstances. I could just see all these dudes saying 'but the Cavs proved to be the better team when both teams were at full-strength - it was only because of that suspension and those injuries why the Warriors came back and won'.
It's weird when the Warriors missed the same open shots they'd been making for two straight seasons. It wasn't that weird for those of us that thought the Cavs had the right pieces to beat the Warriors
Well then you obviously haven't paid enough attention to what's been said about them over the last two seasons.Certain posters will always discredit a team. But the majority would've crownded gs had they won back to back. I said before game 7 if the dubs won they are top 5.
But they both went to the finals two years in a row and split the chips They both got two. One team won a record 73 games which is very impressive The other BEAT a 73 win team after being 3-1 down which is more impressive
It wasn't that weird for those of us that thought the Cavs had the right pieces to beat the Warriors
This is why the whole discussion silly to begin with. The bolded makes absolutely no sense. So the only thing that separates GS being a top 5 team of all time from not being mentioned at all is Kyrie's 3? Nah bruh. This playoffs proved that they're not one of the best teams of all time. They went 7-7 in the last two series losing 5 of the 7 by at least 14 points including losses by 30 and 28 or some shyt. No.Certain posters will always discredit a team. But the majority would've crownded gs had they won back to back. I said before game 7 if the dubs won they are top 5.
And on the thread topic....This season the Warriors were an all time great regular season team with a player that deserved to be a unanimous MVP....that's where it stops.
Cavs were a work in progress until after the Heat game when LeBron was mucking it up with Wade while the Cavs were getting blown out.
Kyrie wasn't right physically until the end of the season and Lue got the chemistry right.
They clicked when it mattered.
Neither are great all time teams for a full season.
Warriors aren't and I wouldn't say Cavs are either(no offense brehs). If Lebron was in his actual prime then I'd say yes(this isn't insulting him at all as a player, but he's not in his prime anymore), but he's not so I wouldn't put them up there. Kyrie also isn't in his prime.
Preach
This should be the consensusThis is exactly how I feel. This years warriors are eliminated cause they came up short. If they won then yes. Cavs won but there are better chip winning teams. But a chip is still a chip
Losing your 2nd and 3rd best players to injury is not a "subtle detail."Win/Loss was the same, but the Cavs offense playing at an unprecedented offensive level in the postseason put you far above last years run. Broke all sorts of efficiency records and playing objectively at an all time great level in large part thanks to being more healthy and additions to the roster. Like I said in the first post I do think they'll get there eventually but it's just gonna take some time to see how this group responds to a title defense and how they play the season out next year with Kyrie presumably ready for a full season of work
Warriors probably are in that conversation of GOAT teams not to win in a single season I suppose. Just have to see how they respond in the future and how many more title runs they have to find out where they ultimately will rank, but I'd say they've done enough to be somewhere on that long list and will probably be joined by the Cavs as one of the top teams of this era.
I'd question whether or not they were really fans or maybe they were trying to downplay the importance of one of the best rim protectors in the league + an elite high post passer and screener for a motion offense. Losing a guy like that is pretty important
Pretty much. Nobody really cares to hear it but the Warriors have become by far the most despised team in the league, so any set of circumstances against them don't really matter as much as others who face the same while playing them. It's pure hypocrisy to ignore what factors may have played in their series result but then go back to last year and point out every subtle detail in an attempt to call a championship team a fraud.
Not a fan of what ifs in sports but that was literally the biggest talking point last offseason so I'm sure as hell not conveniently forgetting that or other similar runs when anyone brings up attaching an asterisk to last years title.
It's weird when the Warriors missed the same open shots they'd been making for two straight seasons.
That's like saying curry losing dray and klay being subtle detailLosing your 2nd and 3rd best players to injury is not a "subtle detail."
