gameplay...ND for the most part = great storytelling...average gameplay
I know some ppl may feel that “averages” out to a good/very good game
but although I can appreciate a good story it should be the icing on the cake
I’ve seen someone admittedly call a game a classic despite it having mediocre gameplay bcuz he really enjoyed the story and I just don’t agree w/ that frame of mind...granted he’s respectfully entitled to his opinion

I always thought the gameplay for LOU was great, I played through the first one a couple months back, it was my first time playing it in like 3 years, and only now are the cracks just starting to show, as in the movement & animation looks a lil dated, but back in 13 I couldn’t fault it at all
this one looks like they took the blueprint but made it a lot more fluid in terms of movement, dodging ect

ya that admittedly makes a huge difference @ the underlined...I didn’t play it when it dropped...I played the remastered version years after
I low key suspect/hope that playing TLOU 2 “during the moment” will help me appreciate the experience a bit more

I’m saying! You gotta listen out for the little things they’re saying. A lot of people are referring to TLOU as a “franchise.” The second installment isn’t even released yetTrying to pull some revisionist history, positioning what’s going on as if it’s a massive retcon, fukkin tradition up lol it’s sad. a lot of them capping like there’s something special about Joel or simply that he’s an exceptional character because we’ve played the previous game as him before. They claim they love the story and universe in TLOU but let sht work out more realistically (according to the leaks) then all that love is out the window. It’s a continuation of the same story and the same universe. TLOU isn’t breaking any rules we’ve come to expect. Ain’t no white knights here and there never will be. Nothing but flawed characters that’ll force them to judge their own morality, this time they just have to do it without their white male patriarchal figure. Boohoo.
Joel was cool but he can’t keep escaping his brushes with death, just like Ellie can’t always be reckless, just like Abby can’t always be vengeful (Speculation). Sht comes at a cost and I think that’s what the games story is trying to teach us.
As far as playing a villain in an actual franchise and it working amazingly; Yakuza 0 pulled it off wonderfully even switching back and forth between two eventually opposing leads.
Low key MGS did it too.

What's hilarious is that some of the people I've seen criticizing this are the same people that have been lighting up the Uncharted games because there's dissonance between Drake being portrayed as a plucky everyman despite killing hundreds of people without consequence, or being portrayed as a killer. But as soon as it looks like they're actually getting what they asked for, now it's a problem just because the comeuppance isn't coming in the form they wanted it to come in.

If you're going to play the game, you're going to play the game. People in this thread keep pulling things out of their ass to say why they're going to. No need to pop smoke and provide cover for ND. They edited the trailer in a manner that contradicts the leaks the same way TRoS did. People will step in the shyt when they play the game. Are some people dap fishing? Of course, but that's this website for you. Abby isn't trans. She's a very masculine woman. Are they pushing degeneracy and deviancy via Dina's relationship with a man AND Ellie? Yes. They're actually playing on stereotypes of bisexual people in the game but that's another discussion. You can call a spade a spade. As I've posted before, everyone did not play the DLC. Someone will be confronted with Ellie's sexuality for the first time and it's going to be pretty heavy based on the trailer and leaked footage. They are allowed to give their opinion as you are.
