Saw this on twitter:

EcNWAm2U4AAucbI

I don't think ND did this with those intentions but in any form of entertainment. I love a good theory. Shyt takes me back to my Saw series days :banderas:

Sidebar; I hate how the internet rewrites entertainment.

You literally could do this with any ending people hate/dislike/don't understand.

Sheesh, the Indoctrination Theory was a 2 hour short film to cope with how horrible Mass Effect 3 ended.

shyt became a chore after the movie theater fight and thats where it should of ended.

Overall one of the best games I have played gameplay wise and atmosphere.

Story was trash I give it a 6 out of 10. I do have to say Naughty Dog has so much potential in The Last of Us universe. I dont want to play as Ellie or Lilly anymore let that die

Starting the game playing as Abby and then maybe getting bits and pieces of Ellie in Jackson (the bar, snowball fight , grocery store with Dina) and leading all the way up to Joel’s death would of been way better of a wtf moment.
The entire first half should have been the WLF and side story with Lev, with bits and pieces of Abby's background revealed throughout that half.

Joel and ellie should have been a shock reveal with flashback of Abby's father being dead happening right before Joel is killed, by that point the player should have a good understanding of who Abby is as a character, her relationship with her father, and her reasoning behind snapping in a random chance meeting Joel and Tommy.

Now you take control of ellie, who you had no idea was even in the game, and introduce all the other character. Second half starts a day before Joel's death then continues for the 3 days hunting down Abby. End it at the theater scene with one of them dying.

That fukks up the revenge plot though and makes Joel's death even less impactful. It's not a big deal if by the time just Joel dies everyone is basically cool with it because he had it coming.

Go that route and you might as well not kill Joel at all. Just scrap the whole premise and do something different.

Maybe they should have slowly revealed why Abby wanted to kill Joel during Ellie's first arc so we feel conflicted along with Ellie.

Also she probably should have not done it with a golf club. Maybe had her execute him but showing more emotion and a little remorse. Because clearly that shyt haunted her after. If she showed emotion and did the whole "you took everything from me" speech I think people would have sympathized with her more.

Joel feels discarded either way
:yeshrug:

Gotta make people cool with it unless you want a divisive response to it. If Abby never grows on you due to her introduction being killing the fan favorite, then the game was essentially a failure.
I enjoyed it for what it is, but I completely understand the people who just cant fukk with abby after the death scene. Took me half her playthrough to open up to the idea of playing as her, it's not farfetched for some to never give a fukk about her.

Finally beat it.

This is one of the most depressing games I think I've ever played.

I am dreading jumping back into it...not bcuz of the gameplay but they done a great job of setting the tone early on...I can understand why those who played it may like the first story more w/o trashing this one...without sounding too corny it was about joel and ellie finding a beautiful relationship w/ each other despite the losses they suffered in a harsh/dismal world...

...but with the killing of joel early on in the sequel the tone is established early on and the story only gets darker as you progress...it’s like playing thru a depressing movie bcuz I think the storytelling is very good so far...I also think it was necessary for them to go a dark route for the sequel...

...imo they’re gonna have to give us a third installment that offers some hope for these characters whether it be ellie or whoever they move on with

Agreed gotta ease the newer characters in to appease the die hards those are the ones buying the game multiple times (goty edition, remastered).

End of the day Abby did get all the dope set pieces and guns so her section had the most :wow: factor that by the time
It went back to the theater I was feeling :lupe: that I would have to kill Ellie. I’m
Not even a diehard like that and I felt like turning the game off :yeshrug:

Yeah it's like, I don't think the story is objectively bad story outside of some of the characterization of the story. The sequencing of the story is bad, since I didn't give a shyt about Abby by the time I played with her, but the story is a very realistic and dark story.

I 100% understand why anyone wouldn't like the story and what they did to the characters. However I think it's a very mature story and simply because it's not cheery, I don't think that means it's particularly bad, just not fun.

LMAO!!!! The Fireflies were written to be incompetent throughout the whole first game but now these nikkas could make a vaccine for a fukking fungus (which has never been done before) AND mass produce it when the Government already done pretty much wiped these nikkas out and are actively hunting them down? Marlene was even talking about how they lost people on the trip from Boston but these goofy ass nikkas who couldn't get from point A to point B without fukking up are gonna save the world? The writers can frame whatever they want it still has to make sense, if it doesn't that's what bad writing is. Talking bout some ole "could do it somehow" nikka stop:mjlol:

Yeah they put some doubt into the idea that they'd be able to develop a vaccine in this one. It's suggested that Abby's father jumped to conclusions overzealously, but he WAS the only guy they had faith in actually pulling it off.

If they do a 3rd game I could see Abby running into another really smart biologist at the new firefly base and they hunt for Ellie to have another shot at a cure, that probably won't require her to die.
