I felt like ND nailed the storytelling aspect of the game. But.. not a huge fan of the direction. But.. it felt like a really real and immersive direction in a fukked up world like TLOU's, so I can understand.
I hated the initial switch to Abby and having to play through Seattle as her. She did slightly grown on me by the end of Day 3, but I still wanted to kill her as Ellie and complete the revenge journey. I HATED having to fight Ellie as Abby. I just couldn't get into it. I wanted to play as Ellie the whole time and honestly let Abby get shot up a few times on purpose.
It wasn't until the final fight of the game where I wanted Ellie to spare Abby, and was glad she did. Just something about her not wanting to fight Ellie and how she wanted to just move forward and away from all of this with Lev gave me a change of heart.
Ellie's end was shyt and it left a weird feeling in my stomach, but it felt right considering everything that happened.
The game did drag at points, but the gameplay usually made up for it. I felt like some of the best encounters in the game happened right when I was feeling like it was starting to drag. Gameplay was great, loved how Ellie was a stealth expert but Abby could take down a small town guns blazing.
I'm struggling between rating this game an 8 or 9, but this is definitely a must play. I can see why people don't like this game because of the direction.. but I don't see how you can give this game anything less than an 8 with how it does everything else at a masterclass level. And to the people bytching who haven't even played it, fukk you and your opinion, and stop wasting everyone's time.
