Im saying soldiers know what the game is and doctors are basically innocent bystanders. He didn't have to murder the doctor by stabbing him in the neck. He could've shot his hand, or feet, or even leg. He was in a hospital, it would be harder for him to bleed out

the soldiers we’re going to kill Joel anyway
as far as the doctors.... that was basically up to the choice of the player
Abby father was the only one that the player had to kill to continue with the game/storyline

They gave Joel a pass, it sucks they did it the hard way and IDK why they didn't wake her up and let her know what is up. Did he kill the other doctors in the part 2 cutscenes?

Any guesses on what the DLC will be about?

There wasn't any major gaps in the story that we need to revist, so I'm guessing it might be about the events after TLOU2. I'm sure it will probably focus on Abby, especially after the criticism the game is receiving. They are clearly pushing her to take over the series....so they may try to appeal to fans more by giving her bulk of the DLC.

I heard that there just wasn't any planned yet...not that it WASN'T happening. They also said there is no plans for a Part 3, when everyone knows they will ride this franchise until the wheels fall off. Its the biggest exclusive on PS.

But they made left behind in like 6 months I think, so a 2-3 hour DLC is nothing for them to make.

For y’all that follow certain YouTube/twitter personalities, you noticed that comment sections for any of these early thoughts/preview videos for Cyberpunk or GOT is full of people fishing for likes by referencing LOU2?

Those of you who don't like the game because of it's story, or the decisions the developers made with certain characters, and such. I have two questions.

Can you name ten story driven games from this current gen that has a better story in your honest opinion?

Of those ten games. Which ones have better gameplay than TLOU2?

Bonus questions* What all does part 1 do better than part 2? If this was a standalone game, and part 1 didn't exist. Do you think the reviews would be different in general (better, worse, or the same)? Would your personal review be different?

Love or hate the game. I love to have discussions about it. It's so decisive, and both sides have some interesting/valid points. Whether we all agree with each other or not.

^^^

the problem is most (not all) of the ppl speaking negatively on the game in this thread didn’t play it @ all so they can’t really answer those questions w/o either lying or parroting something they heard a reviewer say

Joel was the heart and soul of the franchise not a bad decision to kill him but the way the game is structured they should have definitely made his death one of the final things that happened before the game ended. Narratively the revenge story is structured so badly that it kinda wants you to emphasize with Abby but they introduce her right as she kill Joel. No a sound decision. You have to build up to stuff like that. When Halo 2 had you play as the Arbiter they took him to his lowest before they had you fight and kill humans.

Ellie kills so many people up to the final fight with abby that her change of heart feels stupid. I'm sure all those people who were in love with the 1000s she's killed now are lining up to off her now. It would have meant more if she didn't fall so deep off the
This game ruined ellie something serious mind you no way can she go on being the same character we know and love anymore and then finally they wasted a chunk of time making you play as abby someone that I don't care about.
In fact this games biggest failing is that all the new characters suck ass so even if you did want to continue the franchise going forward you nothing for gamers to hold onto now.

Not sure why Sony let them ruin the franchise like this with no contingencies. Story games that rely on single player as their biggest selling point have to be tight and well crafted. This was by no means a bad AAA title but compared to the first game its not even close to that quality storywise

Overall this reminds me of game of thrones season 8 leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth.

Oh and for all the diversity they want props for they did a good job killing all the minority characters again this time

I felt like ND nailed the storytelling aspect of the game. But.. not a huge fan of the direction. But.. it felt like a really real and immersive direction in a fukked up world like TLOU's, so I can understand.

I hated the initial switch to Abby and having to play through Seattle as her. She did slightly grown on me by the end of Day 3, but I still wanted to kill her as Ellie and complete the revenge journey. I HATED having to fight Ellie as Abby. I just couldn't get into it. I wanted to play as Ellie the whole time and honestly let Abby get shot up a few times on purpose.

It wasn't until the final fight of the game where I wanted Ellie to spare Abby, and was glad she did. Just something about her not wanting to fight Ellie and how she wanted to just move forward and away from all of this with Lev gave me a change of heart.

Ellie's end was shyt and it left a weird feeling in my stomach, but it felt right considering everything that happened.

The game did drag at points, but the gameplay usually made up for it. I felt like some of the best encounters in the game happened right when I was feeling like it was starting to drag. Gameplay was great, loved how Ellie was a stealth expert but Abby could take down a small town guns blazing.

I'm struggling between rating this game an 8 or 9, but this is definitely a must play. I can see why people don't like this game because of the direction.. but I don't see how you can give this game anything less than an 8 with how it does everything else at a masterclass level. And to the people bytching who haven't even played it, fukk you and your opinion, and stop wasting everyone's time.
You basically summed my entire feelings on the game :ohhh:

This game ruined ellie...

I can kind of see this...I’m actually looking forward to playing w/ abby...I’m kind of tired of ellie @ this point (storywise)...the love interest aspect of the game was just unnecessary and I would’ve honestly felt that way if she was w/ a guy...I just don’t need any love triangle bullshyt in the middle of a zombie apocalypse

to be fair tho in TLOU1 I wasn’t particularly fond of joel or ellie even tho I liked their relationship if that makes sense...joel was an old curmudgeon and ellie was annoyingly precocious imo...but together they worked...I respected their relationship even tho I didn’t like the characters that much individually

as I dive deeper into this game tho I think I would’ve liked a way for them to have joel and ellie work together a little bit more before they killed him off...the flashbacks have done a good job tho of keeping me tied into her thirst for vengeance
