I think the disconnect with the romance for me came at the piano scene. I don't connect with music at all, but I think that's when Frank realized how much pain Bill was in and found it moving and wanted to show him some love.

But to me it just looked like a parasite finding a way to latch onto a host, so i was stone-faced for the next 60 minutes

My girl kept saying she thought Frank was pretending to be gay so he can have somehow t live lmao

She's grown on me as Ellie

This has been her best episode as Ellie even if it was only for like 15-20 minutes
The pestering questions, the wandering alone, the potentially getting killed and acting arrogant to Joel aftwr was perfect

Also her falling in line when Joel finally says he’s going to take her to the fireflies. They building them up well.

Got like 10min left. That was a solid ep. Never even got to meet frank in the game so it was cool to have something attached. I had a sneaky suspicion bill may be dead already just because he was so old when the shyt started. Bill was probably in his 50s in the game but he had to be close to 70 in this shyt. I would have liked to see the bill and Ellie dynamic though. Loved their interactions in the game. Overall it was a solid ep. Time wise I do wonder how the first game will conclude in this season. There’s a ton left

Good ep. I guess doing fetch quests with Bill wouldn't have made for good TV.

Any time you do an adaption and you switch things up like that it keeps the story fresh for people who already know it.

If it's done right of course.

Idk why at the end with the window shot I expected to see a sad old bill hiding from them pretending to be dead still with Frank body

It was a great episode though and I think next one is going to be video game like with Joel having to sneak around fukking up fedra/fire flies

Frank wasn't in the game but through letters you learned about him and his relationship with Bill.

Also, Elly took a gay porn magazine Bill had and then promptly threw it out. Make of that what you will.
