People are saying that a lot of teams passed on Porter as an excuse for the Knicks.

Yes. But you know what kind of teams should take a gamble on an elite talent with a health concerns? Bum teams like the Knicks who don't have a top 5 pick.
The risk was high but the reward was through the roof.

If you have the #1 pick, you can't afford to blow it on a guy with back problems.
If you have the #9 pick, and you have the chance to take a guy who...when healthy...would almost definitely be a Top 2 pick...that's a risk you have to take.

Exactly like how Indy took Paul George at 10.

The Shai one is not so bad, LAC worked him out first and made a promise. The D. Mitch one was awful. Literally, Pitno called them begging them to take Mitchell. Phil Jackson is an idiot.
Super facts and I love Frank

I'm perfectly fine with the Knicks passing on MPJ even now. That's not too say I'm happy with the Knicks pick but it's only been two years. I'll wait until year 4 to make my judgement since we knew he was a project.

MPJs health still scares me. If he becomes a perennial All Star then I'll eat my words but I doubt he's ever going to make one because of injury

All MPJ needs to do is prove to be better than Kevin Knox got me to regret not taking him.

A few Floors Down from the Daily Grind
My rationale for Judging who ‘missed’ in a draft is if it’s

A: in the top 3-4 picks and you miss
B: You picked a player at the same position and then the next team after took the better player at the same position (and it was within a few picks) or
C: You make a really bad pick and everyone pans it while there are multiple better players on the board who pan out.

Everything else is like....could happen to anyone.

Either there is some red flag that multiple teams don’t touch or there is a high risk high reward player that may just not fit with where you are as a team. That shyt just kind of happens. For every MPJ there is a 40 players who slip that someone takes lower than we thought that dont pan out at all.

These threads in either sport are so garbage. Where are the receipts before the draft? What is the point of this thread? Niccas love the smell of their own farts.

look back at all of the predraft talk. This is so recent that I remember people talking about about. And I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Most in predraft wanted MPJ to go to Chicago or NYK. In fact, Knicks fans chanted Michael-Porter-Jr so it wasn't like this logic is Jokic going in the 2nd round where no one knew who he was and he didn't come to the NBA till this 2nd year.

Still, you drafted a bust because he was better 1v1 versus Mikal Bridges who is a much better Basketball player. Talent is important but realized potential is a lot more valuable. Knox doesn't have much-realized potential. His potential was always limited and his floor is low. He should have been drafted 15-24 range where risks are less risky.
