They also passed on Gilgeous-Alexander.

A year earlier, they passed on Donovan Mitchell for Frank Ntilikina.
The Shai one is not so bad, LAC worked him out first and made a promise. The D. Mitch one was awful. Literally, Pitno called them begging them to take Mitchell. Phil Jackson is an idiot.

Understood. But there's almost no conceivable way that Kevin Knox approaches even half of Porter's upside.
At this point in the game, we know who Knox is. I'd argue everyone knew it even then...comparing the prospects
In the Knicks defense: MPJ wasn't a sure thing. He ended up having two surgeries on his back, and nobody really knew if he would play again. I mean, he hadn't played a competitive game for 594 days before his NBA debut. I don't think the Knicks were really in a position to take a gamble like that.

And as it's been pointed out in here, the Knicks weren't the only team to pass up on him.

The Knicks are worse than the puddle water you use to wash the dog shyt off of your shoe and you're not going to get much of an argument from anyone here.
But out of the past 20 years of absolute organizational ineptitude, you picked a video where the team was hyped to get a player who went on to play at a high level for 12 more years, basically a 20/12 guy, loved by the city he played for, 17 year NBA career, close friends with Kobe who respected his game, and had his jersey retired by the Griz?
Just post a fukking picture of their logo next time man, you don't need to try this hard to shyt on the Knicks.
Knicks fans hate those fukking bums more than you do.

I mean, Clippers and Jerry West passed on him twice.

Dude injured himself in the home opener his freshmen year, an injury that required back surgery. He had another back surgery less than a year later.

If the Knicks picked him and he his career was riddled with injury, there'd be a thread clowning them for it.

People are saying that a lot of teams passed on Porter as an excuse for the Knicks.

Yes. But you know what kind of teams should take a gamble on an elite talent with a health concerns? Bum teams like the Knicks who don't have a top 5 pick.
The risk was high but the reward was through the roof.

If you have the #1 pick, you can't afford to blow it on a guy with back problems.
If you have the #9 pick, and you have the chance to take a guy who...when healthy...would almost definitely be a Top 2 pick...that's a risk you have to take.
I’ll say this much. Those Kentucky players damn near all pan out and somehow the Knicks wound up with Knox. God don’t love the Knicks.

Knicks got exactly what they deserved.

To me it was a choice between bridges and MPJ.

If you are going to rebuild do it properly. This is after they traded Porzingis for peanuts.

For some reason they think they are in a win now mode still? Porzingis said get some players because I want to win and they said calm down. Traded him to a playoff team.

That's when I threw the Knicks into the bushes.

Reminds me of all of the trash that Knicks fans are supposed to accept. Ron Baker, Kuzminskas, Ntilikina.

And Knicks fans eat it up. F that franchise and fanbase.

Wendell Carter Jr. could be put on the block right now and would easily get a ton a good offers. I don't know how you can look at Carter Jr and think you did poorly to pass on Porter Jr. Now, if you got Knox, that's a different story. LAC is also looking funny for passing on him for Jerome Robinson but they got Leonard, PG, and SGA who they traded to get PG. They gucci.

Just looking at the current trajectory (if porter keeps playing like he is) MPJ would be perfect for the Bulls. I’m not mad at the Bulls for picking WCJ. But I do recall us sitting in here mock after mock and we had him mostly going as high as bulls to the wizards pick...I even wanted my Cavs to pick him.

True but Knox doesn't have the mental capacity to be a NBA Basketball player. Which one was more of a risk? Porter Jr. just needed to be healthy, Knox simply needed to be in the G-league and pray that the game comes to him in time.
It was never between MJP and Knox. MJP was never even considered.

Denver finished well above 500 but didn't make the playoffs and had the luxury of drafting and sitting him. Even if he never stepped on the court Nuggets were still good

If Denver wasn't in that situation he probably would've fell down to Spurs or Bucks.
