Yeap. He was IC champ out the gate and all that. Started going down the card because his drug issues were also causing him to no-show and it affected him in the ring. There's a match I saw on Youtube a couple years ago that someone said was the nail in the coffin for his push in the WWF. It was him and Rick Martel, and Kerry didn't even look like he knew what to do next. He had a rehab stint, and then I remember a time after Mania VIII where he cut a promo about being ready to get back on the scene and be a new improved Texas Tornado... he got let go a few months later, killed himself months after that.

They really could’ve made this 2 1/2 hours and show more Kerry scenes to show his habit and pain and the hectic schedule the E wrestlers did/do. Like seriously, 3-4 extra scenes wouldn’t hurt.

Definitely agree that it could’ve used maybe 15 more minutes of runtime but a quality film nonetheless

Thank god I had already watched The Von Erichs episode of Dark Side of the Ring so I was already prepared for the trauma but just from the reactions in the theater there were a lot that had no idea what they were in for :francis:

Took my mom to see it and only told her it’s a tragic story of a wrestling fam. She really liked it. I heard some sniffles in the theater. I’m about to show her the DSOTR ep.

My review. Didn't grow up a fan of WCW/NWA fan so I didnt have any connection with the bros exce[t. Was strictly WWF until they fell off and people went to WCW.

Solid movie. Def. No bad acting except for Ric Flair. Yes, he had the walk and the look. But Flair is about swag. This white boy acted like a white boy. Not Flair charisma at all. The ngga from the Bear did a good job as well as that Zac Efron. I believe this is the first time I've seen him in a movie.

The choice in how they chose to tell the story was interesting. They made it all about them and not the wrestling organzation, head people, etc. I also liked how they make you question if wrestling was scripted or not.

The main flaw with the movie was the tone and not enough "trauma porn". Tone wise, I needed more emotion from these characters. I'm not saying it's Napoleon Dynamite but there were parts where I wish there was more emotion. Because where there was emotion it was good. Particularly near the end. The 2nd flaw to me was the lack of trauma. No, I wasn't looking "Flower Moon" where it went extreme. But at the same time, this movie went to the other extreme and was kinda safe. There were some tragedies I wished they would have shown. Because I didn't feel it when some stuff happened. Didn't have that connection with the characters.

But that final act and ending was great.

Had no idea Texas Torado was handicapped. Would loved to see a movie on him although I know how it ends. I was a fan of his but I don't remember him killing himself

nothing im sure that hasnt been said already in this thread, but that flair was the definition of good and terrible. the script and delivery was dead on, but its like flair after he had covid and just sucked in a helium balloon. i went from shaking my head to laughing, then i ran it back twice. that scene is going to live on for quite some time for all the right and wrong reasons. then like homeboy said earlier, to juxtapose it against kevin and show how polar opposite they were down to flair brushing it off after the match. he just wanted to drink and get some bytches. :russ: yeah, kevin didnt get it. then he did and its probably when he made up his mind to get out.

again, great scene for all the right, wrong and hilarious reasons.

Zac should be considered for the golden globes at the least, also Jeremy Allen White, I think he has next imo

High-budget, testosterone-filled, Lifetime movie.

High grade mid....not better than The Color Purple as far as in-theatre experience is concerned.
