Just got out of the theater about an hour ago. Great film. As a wrestling junkie as a kid/young adult I’ve always known about the Von Erichs and the tragic family history, though they were a bit before my time most of my info on them came from docs here and there. But this was great, Zac Efron’s performance here captured me, helped he got yolked to the gills but he definitely did come off as a wrestling loving country boy/family man. The Flair performance got a chuckle out of me, obviously nobody can replicate Flair’s charisma or essence and I knew that so wasn’t too bothered by it.

I just wan say, this is by FAR, the best wrestling movie based on actual history. The wrestler was great but its a whole diff side to reality.

I mean, they really did their ps n qs with this movie. Down to fritz telling mike to bulk up and showing how he was interested in production. Showing how they lived in a trailer in the beginning. I didnt expect it to be this true to life.

Also showing how harley race fukked him up a lil to see how hed react for a shot at the belt. And how david took his spot being great on the mic.

Lil innuendos only wrestling fans would know.

Zac efron did great in this. The dad (forgot his name, same guy from mindhunter) is a dead on fritz. Kerry even got the big schnoz.

Last scene almost got a tear outta me. Great movie. Nothing matches it as far as historical accuracy in a wrestling movie. But it shows that has great potential.

Id love a 80s wwf movie with vince hogan warrior savage andre etc. just the dressing rooms scenes. I know there was a vince mcmahon script being floated but it seems like it was low brow trash. I doubt the hogan movie with hemsworth is coming out.

This movie was sad but didn't try to force that emotion on you. I thought Ric Flair as a character stole the show. The actor lacked but damn Ric Flair juxtaposed with the grey blandness of the movie was great. Almost like they wanted to drive the point that he was everything Kevin lacked fast flashy loud mouth. The complete opposite. An embodiment of the things he felt kept him from the title.

I did feel like we didn't get too close to the characters so when they die it didn't hit as hard but maybe it's cause you're supposed to feel like the main character. Bad but not too much emotion.

Enjoyed the movie, grateful something finally came out to drag me to the theater.

I liked it, but it's one film I think could have benefited with a longer runtime. I thought they rushed the shyt out of Kerry's story, and made changes to it that I didn't care for. Kerry's story could be made into a film in and of itself though.

I feel like this could have been fantastic and much stronger told as a streaming series, especially if it allowed them to include Chris who was left out. Hopefully, the revisit the story in that format down the line.
Yup. I dug how they brought Kerry in later, and it made it seem like dude was gonna become a big focal point of the film. Makes sense, there are wrestling fans that would know of him before any of the others. With that being said, that didn’t quite happen, and yea his “arc” definitely felt rushed

I didn’t necessarily hate “Flair” here but that “Whoo!” was horrible :mjlol: I really did enjoy the film overall, so did my kid. He gave it a 4 out of 5:lolbron:

The look on some of these moviegoers when they find out later about that “other” Von Erich brother :why:

I still say they need to make a Mini-series about Vince taking WWE national.

Just saw it. Will give my review later. But overall I think it was a good movie with a great closing act. But not a great or classic film overall.

I don't remember him being a jobber. I recall him being a very popular midcarder.

Yeap. He was IC champ out the gate and all that. Started going down the card because his drug issues were also causing him to no-show and it affected him in the ring. There's a match I saw on Youtube a couple years ago that someone said was the nail in the coffin for his push in the WWF. It was him and Rick Martel, and Kerry didn't even look like he knew what to do next. He had a rehab stint, and then I remember a time after Mania VIII where he cut a promo about being ready to get back on the scene and be a new improved Texas Tornado... he got let go a few months later, killed himself months after that.
