Ric Flair
BREH that shyt was SO LEFT FIELD
maybe that was the comedic relief we didn't know we needed
Ric Flair
I just wan say, this is by FAR, the best wrestling movie based on actual history. The wrestler was great but its a whole diff side to reality.
I mean, they really did their ps n qs with this movie. Down to fritz telling mike to bulk up and showing how he was interested in production. Showing how they lived in a trailer in the beginning. I didnt expect it to be this true to life.
Also showing how harley race fukked him up a lil to see how hed react for a shot at the belt. And how david took his spot being great on the mic.
Lil innuendos only wrestling fans would know.
Zac efron did great in this. The dad (forgot his name, same guy from mindhunter) is a dead on fritz. Kerry even got the big schnoz.
Last scene almost got a tear outta me. Great movie. Nothing matches it as far as historical accuracy in a wrestling movie. But it shows that has great potential.
Id love a 80s wwf movie with vince hogan warrior savage andre etc. just the dressing rooms scenes. I know there was a vince mcmahon script being floated but it seems like it was low brow trash. I doubt the hogan movie with hemsworth is coming out.
The scene with Kerry crossing over may be one of the greatest scenes I’ve seen recently. The part with the coin on tails was so small but a big moment.
Director/writer said movie was already a bit bleak, and Kevin okay'd the omission iirc. Why wasnt Chris in this at all?
He was looked at the weakest link in real life.
Then in the movie they just threw him in the bushes entirely.
God damn
Caught this on a flight earlier today. And yea, this was fantastic.
I had zero expectations going in, as '98-2003 were my "wrestling" years, but this movie kept me engaged from beginning to end. I ain't no shyt about the family so the turn it took and kept taking was wild.
I don't know (or really care) how accurate it was because the acting/storytelling was on point and those final scenes of the 3rd act... the mom painting, the brothers "reuniting", Efron's character with his sons... that's just GOAT-tier cinema. The director was in his bag.
My one nitpick is they time-jumped a bit too fast at times, i get why -to avoid pacing issues, but it didn't always feel as smooth, tho i could reconnect the dots easily enough.
Just watched. Part of the problem is knowing too much of the real life story going in and seeing just how much of the story was missed. This is one of those stories that legit could've been a multi-season TV show just because of how much happened in real life. I was hoping they'd be able to fit in Fitz telling Kevin he didn't have the courage to kill himself like his brothers did.Just watched this… kinda disappointed.
Acting was on point but like many of you said, pacing was off and didn’t “hit” me emotionally. Holding back in the storytelling cause the truth was too sad? Why even make the movie then?
That Ric Flair was should’ve had Jeremy Allen White play double duty or something. shyt they could've cast Jay Lethal with a blonde wig and I would’ve been happier than what they did
All in all, I much preferred the Dark Side of the Ring ep.
