Flex said on the radio, as of right now, it's just for 1 night. But depending on how the event goes, he may start doing it once a month and see where it goes from there. Also including the Troy Aves, Chinx, Montana's, Bronson's of the world into it.

Just watch, southern artists will start coming and blowing the NY acts off the stage in terms of crowd hype and energy. I'm rooting for NY but they need better "live" records. fukk the radio, get the crowd moving and radio will eventually come.

Bottom line. The time is now or never for NY rappers to step their game up

As people have stated on here, NY is in much DESPARATE need of a club scene revival. The clubs and showcases in the 90's (ie Tunnel, Palladium, Lyricist Lounge) helped the NY Hip Hop scene in a tremendous way. It got to the point where rappers from here started making certain songs so it would bang in the Tunnel (hence the term "Tunnel Banger"). But in the last 7-8 years, the scene turn extremely bourgeois and Hollywood. Also, the Giuliani and Bloomberg administrations helped cracked down on the club circuit. Then add on the south's influence with the strip club scene (Perfections, Sues, Jersey Girls being the new spots to go to) rappers started making songs to appeal to the strip club crowds and southern format as oppose to making that Tunnel Banger in the 90's.

You forgot about Sin City that dudes flock to for their big booty hoe fix :ld:

But you right. NY needs to have an organic revival or else its lights out for good.

Maybe this is what NY needs to get started. Hearing southern dudes on the radio is one thing, but imagine being a NY artist in The Tunnel seeing...Migos or whoever getting the crowd hype, yet when you get on stage they don't care. Hopefully that spurs some competition.

Not competition as in "hey let's make our 808s louder and do more trap shyt," but "hey, we need to make some shyt that knocks live." I'm not a big Troy Ave fan but his album has some tracks that knock without resorting to southern sounds. I have nothing against southern production, I just think NY needs to establish its identity.

Bronson has records that are dope live, but he doesn't have a lot of shyt that "knocks" live. I'd love to see him rapping over harder drums and bass in the future.

NY Hip Hop is definitely at a crossroads period. With dudes like Troy Ave, Bronson, Roc Marci, A$AP Mob, Chinx, Joey Badass, Mack Wilds starting to bubble a lil bit, the scene can go either way. It's going to be real interesting to see who steps up and if the fans really even care at this point.

I think it's strictly a sponsorship role. Cause Complex and Revolt TV are sponsoring this event as well
