I agree with all of that 100%.
But the strip club thing tho ill tell you in NYC was NOT as poppin or as commonplace as it is today. That stems from the south influence in the music and culture now. Years back when i was going to golden lady, wedge, passions , sues and other spots, it was just to see naked chicks and chill with the few of us who wanted to go. Chics and dudes alike would be like wtf you going to the strip club for? Yall wasting money, shyt is wack..now people in there like nothing.

Strip clubs ARE a south thing. ATL, MIA thats they shyt. With people going to MIA and ATL as chill spots and seeing hte culture and bringing it up here. Perfections, jaguars, starlets are now what the stip clubs in the south are. That came form them. Thats not NY shyt to be up in the strip club chillin like its a real club.

But like you said and i agree, times change. Glad im not one of those stuck in the 90s cats. Appreciate everything for what it is.

True dat. Strip clubs down south is a way of life since they have a huge influx of naturally thick hoes. All that twerking and shyt like that is just southern impersonation :yeshrug:

The Tunnel is gonna be a massive boom or bust to the NY rappers this next year. Its really a do-or-die moment for them.

nah..most of the bullshyt occurred outside.......I was living on 166th and Washington in the bx..and most cats didn't venture to the Tunnel or manhatten unless their bread was right

the violence was over sensationalized simply because people in that area of manhatten felt threatned by a large gathering of black kids

even the club owner Peter Gaiten said Sunday nights with flex was actually one of his most peaceful nights...

Any time you get two or three thousand people together, there are going to be some issues. But the amount of violence in the Tunnel was far less than when Madison Square Garden or the Meadowlands would do a Hot 97 [concert]. It was a nine-year run and nobody was ever killed in the place. The worst we had was a wheelchair guy got in with a gun and accidentally discharged the gun in his calf. There were fights, but it wasn’t like there were brawls every time, otherwise nobody would have gone, or it just would’ve ended up being just guys there. One of the reasons the night really worked well is because we used to get an extremely high ratio of females going.- PETER GAITEN the owner of the TUNNEL http://www.complex.com/pop-culture/2011/08/interview-peter-gatien-limelight

He is right it basically was more like a club for stunting..most of the crowd wanted to compete with the stars that was their..so it was a lot of flossing of chains and flexing for byatches....

Oh word??You lived in the area where the firestation is

I live in Forest PJS.....

Did you see the limelight documentary?.

I can't see wu tang messing with that kid after seeing that doc. Peter had some snitches and weirdos working for him big time but entertainment usually attracts that crowd. That lieing bartender was a straight bytch.

I can see it done 1 time for nostalgia purposes but the vibe that was around in 95-96 is long gone because Bloomberg NY is different. You can never have that same vibe again. In the mid 90's NYC was such a cess pool clubs like The Fever and Club speed u could be underage and get a drink at the bar. Thats not happening in 2013.

In 94, 95, 96.....14- 16 year olds were stripping in NYC. Being underage and getting into hot spots was nothing back then. I was 14 the first time I went to The Fever. Went to the bar section, ordered rum and coke with no hassels. Bouncers used the dress code hustle against you.....U got jeans u got to pay more to get in and you have to check your coat.

I kid you not. The absolute weirdest thing about this thread is. NONE OF THESE nikkaS ARE FROM NEW YORK. That Honrable SKJ nikka is a down south old head, who moonlights as a NY poster cause he lived here for a few years :russ: .

Its kinda creepy if you ask me. You got a thread full of nikkas talking about the history and lifeline of the NY night scene and the future of NY, posting articles n all lol. Yet none of these cats is natives. Its like a fetish to these bamas b :pachaha:
