This is pretty dumb because you can easily say that for those 2 games you considered pointless the 12 team playoff made 10s more regular season games even more important/good or with higher stakes for teams in every confrence as they all were jockying for positions that didn't exist last year with only the top 4 teams being involved in the National Title race... Syracuse v Miami was a perfect example of that....additionally with only 4 teams making it to the playoffs last year certain confrence title games were always going to run the risk of being irrelevant, what did the ACC title game do for FSU? What value did it offer? :francis: again you have to actually activate your brain sometimes larger than 1+1 = 2
Are those "extra" games really that important?

Was Miami really a contender? Or any fringe teams?

Thery're not. It's all window dressing.

The solution is get more games and meaningful ones is to have the SEC/B1G have their own playoff and the other conference have a G5 playoff like the fcs does.

Maybe have a few of the top ACC teams join the B1G or SEC

That way we can have more meaningful games without pointless blowout match ups against programs that are in clearly different tiers because this new format is trash.

Just like a 3 loss Bama, who really gives a shyt about these fringe playoff teams? They have no realistic chance of winning shyt against the few elite teams.

If this continues in 10 years there's going to be threads in the Coliseum like the ones we see about NBA ratings plummeting but about College football and people are going to be asking why fans aren't watching as much.

Water down the product and fans will stop watching.

Seems like some folks just want to crown champions based on:

"Brand"
Perceived Conference Strength
Number of Natty's won
Average recruiting ranking

Why play games? Just wait until September and have the AP rank the two best teams. Let them play zero other games and just practice until Christmas Day where they can play #1 vs #2.

Football is immune to this... especially college. College is driven more because regular people can say they are a part of OSU or Penn St or whomever because they probably actually went to the school. The loyalty supercedes anything else. No one feels a part of the NBA unless u played or coached etc...

They're important in determining who should and shouldn't qualify for a chance to win a title.... It might sound crazy to people like you but most folks think that you actually should play football to determine who the contenders in a football league are, that's what this format allows. Secondly, if not for football games on the field, what are you basing who a contender is or isn't on? Miami for example isn't a contender because of the results of their games on the field. FSU for another example won every game they played and their confrence title as well and weren't contenders because of a predetermined format. Do you get the difference or do you need it simplified in even more basic terms to comprehend?
The solution is get more games and meaningful ones is to have the SEC/B1G have their own playoff and the other conference have a G5 playoff like the fcs does.
What would this solve, you would still have the same people complaining about there being too many or too few participants in an SEC/B1G challange as well.

Or maybe just keep it the way it is and stop bytching about therw being too much football offered to you like a weirdo :yeshrug: there's always been blowouts in postseason college games, whether it was the playoff era or the BCS era or the poll era.... It's a part of the sport.... complaining that every game isn't a 21-20 nail bitter when that has never been the reality of the sport is pretty silly tbh

The NBA just signed their biggest broadcasting contract in the leagues history....if in 10 years thats the case for CFB they would be factually winning....some emotionally unstable and unserious doom and gloom tweets don't stop the money and the money is what matters not emotions

You can add this one in there as well

These nikkas don't actually watch the sports or have any functioning knowledge of its history....they're emotionally unstable looking for platforms to vent every season :mjlol: which makes these kinds of posts mocking their stupidity even more hilarious...

the entire argument is this

do you want 'best teams'

or do you want a tournament of champions

i significantly prefer the latter because you actually EARNED your way in other than being 'good.

plus that would within 1-2 years create more parity across the sport.

Enjoying your Saturday of earned slots and more football? :pachaha:

“Parity” :bryan: forcing 2 teams to play each other doesn’t create parity. You can’t force parity in college football. There are too many roster spots, and nothing to stop elite players from pooling onto the same core teams….and there are no 3 pointers to even the odds :beli:

It’s man on man across the board; gaps will naturally occur when you play a team with A level talent vs a team with B (C, D?) level talent. Unavoidable.

All of your hivemind takes are aging horrifically

if you know that you can get into the playoffs if you win your conference...talent is more likely to spread out throughout the sport because of a greater chance to get in.

and, yeah, i like these match ups and would enjoy it even more if it was only champions, because that would make the conference championships more valuable and the defacto round 1 of the playoffs.

playing your way in 100% >>>>>>>> opinion trophy
