Worst movie I've seen this year,, too many emotional parts,, the movie was boring,, the whole movie they were going back and forth from the bunker to the surface,, movie sucked
I enjoyed the movie. I feel people are going to get disappointed if they came in expecting some type of action-packed popcorn saga. This film is nothing like that at all. In spite it's rather engrossing in the critique of pushing a revolution. And how little different the rebels were from President Snow in the way of uses Katniss & Peeta as propaganda props to push their agenda and sway the people one way or another. It's more of a social-political thriller than an action-packed movie. I was cool with it, but I understood if other didn't.
This movie was probably the most faithful to the series thus far. I love the book, and I thought they did it justice, especially showcasing the propaganda machine, the way heroes can be used as pawns in politics, and the horrors of real war. In some ways, the movie outshines this particular portion of the novel because seeing it drives home the point even better than trying to imagine it. Acting wise, everyone was on their A-game here: Lawrence, Hutcherson, Hemsworth, Moore, Harrelson, Hoffman and Wright. I really liked the visuals as well, both cinematography and special effects, especially the picture of blacked out Capitol and Katniss going into the war zone. Although I enjoyed the darker tone, the use of comedy in places evened it out and made the meta more digestible, and the story more human. The only flaw I really saw is that this was split in half. It feels like a teaser to the main event, which may piss some people off. Personally, it only made me hungrier for the second part.
Overall, I'd give this a 4.5 out of 5
I was really looking forward to seeing Peeta turning on Katniss, and it did not disappoint. He went at her harder than I expected and it was satisfying to see that particular part of the book brought to life. That may mean I'm a deviant, but I blame it on Hutcherson and Lawrence because it was so well-acted.
I saw it today. I didn't read the books, but I think the first movie has been the best of the series.
I'm not really a fan of the series (just watched them all because I've been dragged to them). All of the movies seem drawn out to me, but I guess they're doing service to the book readers
