saw it last friday.

utter :trash:
really disappointing (especially after the fantastic desolation of smaug)
this.

i stan the LOTR movies more than anything.

and this movie was just blah.

desolation of smag actually showed a lot of promise after the first which i had a love/hate relationship with

and this is easily worst than the first.. the battle was underwhelming..and most of it wasn't even in the book

this movie was rotten last night ..and now sits at 60% ..where it will probably remain if not dip because its worse than the first which got 64%

Movie was kinda weak. A lot of cliché moments. Also for a movie called The Hobbit, Bilbo sure felt like a supporting character.

and they had Legolas on straight up God mode, had the entire audience cracking up like :mindblown::mjlol::rudy:

It was terrible.

Too many slow motion scenes, weird ass emotional pauses, overly dramatic moments. They tried to make the snitch some sort of weird comedy relief when I was hoping dude would've died last film.

I think Peter Jackson tanked this on purpose so they won't ask him do any more big budget films

This, and the series in general, was definitely cornier than LOTR and not as epic. These movies are still dope off of visuals alone. I went to the first in HFR 18fps or whatever the fukk and the last 2 in standard and it's much better in standard imo. Everything just looked amazing and I can forgive how corny the dialogue and storyline aspects were at times because of that. The Balog/Azog vs Thorin/Legolas/Tauriel battles were crack to me.

The book is a childrens story, of course half the stuff isnt in the book, if yall wanted to see the movie version of the book than you can pick up a copy of the old CGI movie.

granted..bilbo gets knocked out during the battle in the book as well

but this should have been 2 movies max.. not 3

It was originally 2 when del toro was still directing

Or they could've made three 2 hour movies, which also would've effectively got rid of most of the filler. There's no rule dictating that all LotR movies need to be close to two and a half hours and nobody would've held it against them. But Hollywood has been going crazy with their "longer is more epic" rhetoric for a while now.

Battle was underwhelming compared to any war scene in lord of the rings. The main dwarfs cousin who came to help on the pig was just ridiculous to me straight cartoony. I for real laughed out loud when they had legolas hurricarana the big ass Orc.

Movie was entertaining though I guess that's all you can really ask for but man the trilogy can't hold a fukkin candle to lotr

i cant even watch the original battle scenes in return of the king without nearly falling asleep, in the 5 armies they at least played out like actual fight scenes....

Hurrican-rana?!?..

a frankensteiner isnt hard to swallow in a choreographed fight.
