how do they fit in frodo in the story?

it's starts off with the old bilbo beginning to write his bio of his adventure. it is implied that it's around the same time the beginning of "fellowship of the ring" began, right before they had the party and bilbo leaving the shire

I'm curious how Peter will do the other battles in the book.

*re-reads for reference*

In The Desolation of Smaug (scheduled for release on 13 December 2013), having successfully crossed over (and under) the Misty Mountains, Thorin and Company must seek aid from a powerful stranger, Beorn, before taking on the dangers of Mirkwood Forest—without their Wizard. The film will likely follow the group through Mirkwood, their arrival in Lake-town, and their exploration of the Lonely Mountain, culminating in the desperate fight against the ancient dragon Smaug.

The visual style took me off-guard and I really dont look forward to watching 3-D movies at 48ps ever again....

That said, I loved it. The atmosphere, dialogue, battles, locales, even the humor...Awesome film. The 3 hours passed quick for me

Movie was ok, but you can really tell they stretched things out. With the LoTR joints you couldnt wait to get the extended editions to get more of the story, with this there is no way i could sit through an extended edition.

Its not really the movies fault but with there being so many characters you really dont give a shyt about any of them. I dont even remember any of the dwarves names.

Anybody got a review of the 48 FPS? Is it anything like that mode on LCD's that makes movies look like a soap opera? That mode is awful.
It looks exactly like that. Motion Interpolation on steroids. That said, its a good movie once you settle down and look past the visual style.

Some of the CGI was :whew:....some was :lolbron:...but if you loved the Trilogy, I cant see why you wouldnt like this at all

I badly wanted to walk out during the first hour...it was excruciatingly dull.

But, after that, I kind of got into it :obama:....and I am NOT a fantasy fan. Have never read any of Tolkien's books.

The action was a bit repetitive and hit a lot of the same beats (someone would get in trouble, and then suddenly everyone else would rush from out of nowhere to save him....rinse/repeat). But a lot of it was pretty great. Loved the section of the film with the trolls/goblins or whatever the fukk they were, including Gollum's scene. Easily the best part of the film.

90 minutes in I was pretty sure I wasn't going to be seeing the rest of the trilogy...but now I will.

Id prefer a trilogy about elves

The Silmarillion:blessed: basically the prelude to LOTR

The only thing is that its way to big--bigger than LOTR. You would have to cheapen the book alot( all movies do though, to some extent at least).

The Sons of Feanor, them nikkas had no ruths:whew:
Noldor Elves bossing up on the Teleri Elves and Sindar Elves:sadsoulja:

So many epic characters brehs:ohlawd:
