I see it too...but people want to hold onto the "struggle."

We as black people need to stop defining ourselves by the struggle. The hell do I want to define myself with strife for? Why should I want to embrace strife? All that happens then is MORE strife. And strife makes me unhappy. I don't want to be unhappy.

Times are changing and if people don't adapt with the environment they get left behind.

Agreed. Blacks are getting chance to exceed like never before. We need to push forward.

there's nothing new about kids coming from kensucky to nyc to go to art school and shyt. its just that they used to go to Manhattan, but now it's too expensive there

all this talk of what neighborhoods were "traditionally" is just silly. shyt changes. and most likely that "tradition" isn't more than 100 years old, if that

here's a pic from Queensbridge from around 1940

at some point it's just like cats are mad because the world keeps turning. in some circles they call those people "conservative"

Barely. Some parts of NYC are like 2000 per month. I think the coffes shops pay like 9 an hour,(Can someone local help me?)

Rents all over the place

At 9 dollars an hour off the books you wouldn't be able to afford a 2000$ a month apartment lol.

To be fair, in NYC, most young people have roommates because it's hard as hell not to unless you're making a top salary. The rent/general cost of living makes it necessary.

Fair enough.

How come Staten Island hasn't blown up like that though? No Subway?
