Not even close. I watch disaster videos like that all the time. People die from caving diving, mountain climbing and spelunking all the time. Hell, there was this one ship that flipped over with possibly thousands of people stuck in it. The people who were able to escape talked about how they could hear people pounding on the bottom of the ship for a long time before it eventually went silent as they drowned. There were these guys in a diving bell that got detached and they were stuck on the bottom of the ocean slowly suffocating as people tried to reattach it. They did but it broke again.

No one is trying to risk their life to rescue his dumbass from impending death. Even in that situation - that wouldn’t have stopped the clots from forming in his legs thus leading to eventual heart failure. IMO they should have just mercy killed him - throw a bomb in their and boomed him or inject him with morphine until he passes to the upper room, can’t imagine his final moments being in an unnatural human position, the lack of air, mental anxiety. He might be still alive and turned into a Descent creature
