This is me :damn:

Just like his song God's plan I can't listen to it .

There is a line where he says " might just turn into g o d" I don't like that line breh it doesn't sit right with me .
I don't like subtle shyt in his music .

I feel his music is so empty and easily disposable .

People act like it's so deep I always say what do you even know about him ?

Most artist use music as their diary and really spill their pain in their art .

For all the shyt we talk about jay .

All his ducktails drug stories .

You know about his in depth relationships with his parents . As a listener you see why he is the way he is .
You've seen grow from a young nikka to a grown man .

Same shyt. I hate that line too. in general it just feels like he doesn't have the ability to rap about more. I think he's out of content so he just relies on pandering to the insecurities of young women and making the young men who simp them feel comfortable doing so...

Well the funny thing he IS that guy that will simp for a chick at the same time. There is only so much depth you’re going to get from a suburban kid that has been in the spotlight since a youth. He isn’t really doing anything to challenge himself.

Hov kind of fell in the trap after the countless drug stories and he started crying for a few albums about how he isn’t “loved” enough. On the new album with B, he at least found something else to talk about with the Tidal issues and other legal situations that have popped up.

Hov has a few songs that go pretty deep scattered across his catalog, it's just his persona was a hustler so he's not going to give you that much from an emotional standpoint. But yea, Drake panders and simps because that's all he's good for. Like I said before, if he wants a different lane or energy he'll hop on a feature or use somebody else's pen to get another angle.

The worst thing is the gatekeepers
They now throw stones but hide their hands

They helped establish a farce they are now looking to destroy. The Nas, Faces, Cubes, Jays etc are culture vultures themselves

I agree with much of what you posted OP
And actually I want to correct something you said but will actually help the point you are making:

“So Far Gone” wasn’t Drake Debut tape, he actually had 2 before that didn’t land as well.

But to your point, even on “Comeback Season” Drakes second tape he had features from industry Vets like Trey Songz, Little Brother/ 9th wonder, Rich Boy (around the time “throw them D’s was HUGE), Elzhi, Dwele, MALICE from Clipes , ect...

He’s always had a machine behind him...

who from rocafella is still eating

your average artist isn’t going to have a +5 year multiplat career, that goes for ovo, rocafella, maybach music, etc. you guys use legit use superstars way tooooo much as a barometer for the average rapper/singer. most female singers aren’t Beyonce or Rihanna. most artists will be one hit wonders regardless of who they are associated with
Kanye West

Doesn't matter. He formed that label with Biggs and Dame.

You said who from Rocafella is still eating? I said Kanye who is one of the biggest artists in the world.

No goal post moving.
try to take credit for the success of someone you didn’t want on your label brehs :heh:

no goal post moving, but it’s obv ye is more of a product of dame’s work, not jay. ye and dame even have a good relationship to today. at that point jay was more of a jealous artist (still is today in some aspects) rather than a boss

it's amazing how when arguing the legitimacy of drake, no matter what, it always ends up about Kanye

He was cool with Trey before the deal. You can see him in the Wonder Woman video and they collab'd before that on Replacement Girl.
I wouldn't necessarily say that getting features from underground rappers like Phonte and Elzhi is indicative of anything more than having a Degrassi salary to spend on features and studio time. Lol.
