You should put this energy into building wealth

It's none of your business but I'm financially free. I haven't worked a 9-5 since 2011.

:sas1:

The fact you're suggesting building wealth or maximizing income stops or loses efficiency because of a good coli debate might mean you need to challenge your beliefs about how money can be made.

You're wrong breh and I addressed why in the OP. The wave riding aspect is nowhere near the levels Drake takes it
please stop, jay hasnt had an undeniably good album since AG and has jocked everyone from ye, bey and even justin timberlake in order to acquire new audience.

idk, why you all like to treat jay like some gawd rapper when he literally puts out shyt for the most part now. most rappers from the 90s have fallen off in terms of superstar quality in music (ie. snoop, ice cube) or have smaller core fanbases that allow them to make great content that caters to them (ie. qtip, nas). jay-z is like if snoop was still rapping. like yeah, you'll get credit for your old work and yeah youre a household name, but the new shyt is pop and gets played out quick af

most people will just listen and pay respect purely off of the legacy off his work, but the lackluster content will not attract new audiences

I thought Take Care and IYRTITL were pretty good even though QM was responsible for the latter.

Yeah i skipped if youre reading this and listened to it one day out the blue like 6 months after the hype died. At first I was like :dj2:, then :patrice:, then :rudy:, then :comeon: . Drake's music doesn't really have much replay-ability to me. Its nice at the time, but on revisits or relistens it never holds up.

Seeing white people I knew who never fukked with rap at all post about "running through the 6 with their woes" really put me off :mjlol:, then you add on the QM reveal and it was a wrap.

All the leaked songs for Take Care were :ohlawd: to me at the time, he was on a tear. Then the album dropped and I saw it get hyped up everywhere as even better than Watch the Throne. Listened to that garbage once and was very disappointed. Ever since he puts out mediocre at best stuff to me very hit or miss. He has the single game on lock though :ehh:

On top of all of that Jay has put MANY other artists on

Who has Drake put on?

Or a better question would be who around Drake HASNT been suppressed/artistically drained by Drake?
Easily the most disgusting part and I don't see how his fans argue this .

It's like dude bleeds them for hits then what ever is ok they can put out .

thanks breh. glad you read it and liked it because after I finished typing I was like :dahell: ain't nobody about to read this long ass shyt. but like I was telling another poster, I think the booth deserved a thorough examination of this dude because as a community, we spend a lot of time talking about him. Whether you love him hate him or claim not to care, he's been the MAIN topic of discussion for years - but the obsessive nature of both his fans and haters always leaves the debate polarized. i'm neither, so I was able to think it through as a regular person who liked the music, but could never really buy into the person. too many things just didn't sit right...

it's a lot of bloggers, journalists and industry heads who lurk here so i'm sure someone might come across it. it's really for the coli, but I just hope it can shift the debate below the surface and closer to the reality of how he got here when people want to discuss him.

This is me :damn:

Just like his song God's plan I can't listen to it .

There is a line where he says " might just turn into g o d" I don't like that line breh it doesn't sit right with me .
I don't like subtle shyt in his music .

I feel his music is so empty and easily disposable .

People act like it's so deep I always say what do you even know about him ?

Most artist use music as their diary and really spill their pain in their art .

For all the shyt we talk about jay .

All his ducktails drug stories .

You know about his in depth relationships with his parents . As a listener you see why he is the way he is .
You've seen grow from a young nikka to a grown man .

Beat was produced by boi-1da and it was a solo track.

Totally agree, but if you're Jay would you want your verses on that beat or taken off?
I would want my verses on beats that will make me money. Jay even more so. The jew had money behind him to buy acceptance and credibility from real emcees.

So, what's your point. I lost the argument because he overcame the odds?

That's the whole point. What he did to bounce back after he was dropped from Atlantic was just giving you a sequence of events that led him to his entry into the game.

Second, he didn't need credibility from Americans in general. If that was the case he wouldn't have rapped in a southern accent. He was specifically going after the people who were listening to Wayne Tip Gucci Ross and others like I said. To get into hop hop, black Americans are the first group you have to reach.

The point is that him being some "fraud" has been said a million times yet no one actually seems to care because Drake's ability to create music (however he does it) is good enough that people have overlooked it for a decade. And the way he did it was by hustling his way to the top by putting himself out there. Your point tries to authenticate Drake on some level, but at the end of the day we all know way more about this dude than any of us care to admit.

So, how can Drake be a fraud if everyone is in on it?

Wasn't Jay-z' s highest selling album the one he jocked liked crazy? The one that had DMX, Ja-Rule, the LOX, Too $Short, Irv Gotti, Timbaland, Stevie J, Foxy Brown, Swiss Beatz, and Jermaine Dupri on it.

I remember a day or two after the album dropped, this white boy I used to cop bud from bagged up my shyt. as I was leaving he looked at me and said "shine on them hoes...let them know that you run shyt." :obama:

I hit him with the :leostare:

Found another weed man after that dumb shyt.

Dude was dropping bars

"He has no problem acting out whatever fragment of the black diaspora advances his career with no real respect for the culture, people and the struggles that bring him the elements he uses so freely."

:wow:

You touched on a few things myself and others brought up .

This whole thread has a lot of little truths that have real ether. Definitely worth the read.

All the bolded people Jay had relationships prior to Vol. 2, so how could he be jocking? He battled DMX and was cool with X before he even dropped his first album. Ja-Rule got on through "Can I Get A", Gotti worked with Jay on RD, he already knew Stevie J and he was writing for Foxy. So tell me again how he's jocking when he was aiding these people at the onset of their careers way before volume 2 dropped?
