These men know nothing about hair, especially black hair so they don't care that washing your hair everyday isn't good for it (it's ok if you have braids), you can't manipulate it/style it too much or you will damage it. We've tried to explain it but all they did was mock us.

They're denying that influence of the European beauty standards. claiming it has nothing to do with self hate. If your sub consciously chasing a beauty standard that isn't your race then in conjunction you'd have to hate features of your own race.

Right, but sometimes it doesn't. And that's what I'm talking about with shades of grey--protective styles are a REAL THING. All those natural hair videos that you all are raving about say that this is the ONLY way to grow your hair out. Granted, there are other protective styles besides weaves, but weaves have their uses. Are they indicators of self-hatred? Sometimes. But not always. And that's the point these women are trying to make.

at this thread. The vast majority of women will deflect and use emotion to fuel an argument - logic isn't anywhere in their realm of comprehension when hearing something they don't like. It becomes almost nonexistent. I can't believe dudes have bickered back and forth with them for almost 1,000 posts. You will never accomplish anything.

Truth is I think the women know it's bullshyt, they're just stuck on this "It's not all" argument when nobody ever speaks in absolutes. We know it's not all but we're speaking in generalizations not absolutes. And the generaliztion is that the vast majority of black women that wear weaves either are trying to emulate other races of women or have self hate/esteem issues.

It's the truth, how can black women say you don't know how it feels to grow up in a society with a eurocentric beauty standard as a black woman and then claim in the next sentence that black women wearing weaves has nothing to do with that eurocentric beauty standard.

So all these black women i've seen from school years, to television that are wearing a weave with a hair texture that doesn't match their own. You tell me finally and i'll back off, Why are the majority of black women doing this? From the USA to Caribbean to Africa, why are the majority doing this?

I believe one of the reason for the low marriage rate among black women is because the men hate what they see when the hats come off.
