The fact remains, women have no good reason to wear weaves.

As a woman I honestly am starting to hate seeing weaves. Before it was an accessory for women who had a little change now I cant go into a room and count how many people without one. Its getting ridiculous. I don't like to use the word "natural" because your hair is your hair, but I love my own hair and like scratching my scalp. What bothers me now about weaves is people wearing ones that aren't believable and stripper length weave that is unprofessional. My mom teaches and I'm seeing girls in elementary school with weaves, smh like their edges didnt even get a chance. What happen to giving young girls in braids and plats. I dont hate folks for wearing weaves but I stress those who do to choose to wear the right texture and length that is believable. This hair hatted movement got nikkas putting they hands in my hair on purpose to check if its a weave, one almost gave me whiplash trying to check.

Once again straight hair =/= "looking white" plenty of black people have naturally straight hair, or hair that can be naturally straightened without perms/weave

If all you needed was "white hair" to be considered beautiful then white women would not spend so much money altering the look/ texture of their hair. There is a western standard of beauty that we all conform to, but we contribute to that standard just as much as we strive to meet it.

I have naturally curly and thick hair, but I choose to straighten it when I feel like it *shrug*

Y'all have this silly idea that "black society" in America is somehow different or within a bubble excluded from American society.

It's not, our "culture" is a direct result of what we were taught when we where brought here. All of our ideas of what is attractive came from our experiences here in America. Cornrows, fades, waves are just as much "western" culture as weaves and relaxers are.

Natural hairstyles for black men would be dreads and Afros. That's it
Where are the white guys who get fades, corn rows and waves? Barely around.

Black men havent had relaxed hair and jerry curls in ages.

Fades came along with the invention of the hair clippers. Before that nikkaz would use scissors. Waves is a hairstyle, which is unique to black people.

The majority of black men don't do things to emulate other races. :camby:
Can't do fades with scissors. But ask yourself why do black men think they need to cut their hair in the first place?

Relaxed black hair. Is also unique to black people. You wouldn't want waves if society didnt tell you they would get you some p*ssy.

cmon breh now you being silly. nikkaz in the villages of West Africa aren't thinking about a style that isn't created yet(waves) and something that hasn't been created yet(clippers) to even do fades.

Versatile?

Im all for different things like dying your hair and such but when this "vesatility" looks like mimicking another race some red flags are raised.

So just wearing straight weave is mimicking another race?

This fad of blond hair, indian hair and skin bleaching and such.

The natural hair style of black women is already under oppression. Weave wearers are making it worse.

All of this is popular and are warning signs to wanting to be another race. They cant just be ignored. :manny:
