This is what happens when there's no leadership/hierarchy in any kind of organization, not just sports. Person comes aboard more talented than the regulars, person might have an aura that comes off being superior or gets catered to more, and instead of the organization establishing roles or that person being a leader and establishing them themselves, shyt festers and ruins the organization.
Kawhi more than likely can't play a full season + carry postseason, Raptors & Spurs have been trying to tell you all he's permanently damaged. Plus, he just won a ring playing that way, so I'm not sure what these players expected. But like someone already said, this only matters when you lose, because they walked around all season like they were champions.
But it all comes back to no accountability from Doc whatsoever, was completely fine with the two stars not even practicing while everybody else had to grind and play heavy minutes while they were out. And Kawhi didn't establish leadership because to do that you have to actually talk, and apparently he didn't talk to anyone except George the entire year.
