You can find barely affordable stuff around Shaw-Petworth, but it's hard as fukk. Only truly affordable apartments in DC are in Southeast and Northeast but cacs are quickly gentrifying those areas too. Right now is prolly the best time to move into places like Anacostia and Deanwood before too many cacs move in and price the regular folks out.

Bought a house around Fort Davis and I already see white girls jogging through the park...

As for OP's maps, those prices are way outta wack, especially places like McLean, VA where the median family income is around $150,000+ per year. Hell, that whole Silver Line section they mention is in Fairfax County which is one of the highest income counties in the nation. No way in hell you gonna find an $800 spot out there.

Anacostia is on their radar due to the simple fact that that area is near the water and the nice views of the city up on the hills.

Barry Farm is already on its way out the door in the name of "redevelopment".

Live in deanwood and yes cacs are moving in with the quicks.

Homes are being built just for them. House around the corner is going for $380k. My house was purchased for a full $100k+ less.

I never been to the Bay, I only heard about how bad it is. But that much just for parking is fukkin crazy.

itd be aight if it was universal, like if I paid $30-50 to park the whole day in san francisco thatd be fine (on some fast trak shyt) but all the garabges/parking spaces are privately owned so its like if you go to 1 place to eat, gotta pay for parking there, then if you go to a movie, gotta pay for parking there (these are usually hourly rates though like $1-3 a hour), but if you go to 1 club and pay $20-30 for parking and the club weak and wanna go to another club then you gotta pay for parking again unless you find street parking but its rare to find that unless you are truly dedicated to not paying parking and dont mind walking like 3-5 blocks to your destination

Now calculate that money on rent that's going into a landlords pocket...

That left me shook and shocked when I added up that the average rent in DC is around $2,000 per month. Multiply that by 12 months and you just put $24,000 in somebody else pocket every year.

Right..man I could have owned a NICE house with the rent money I have spent..nobody ever said get a house when I was young tho..crazy. and when you realize that a 25 year mortgage can be $600 for something pretty nice then you really trip.
