i was disgusted when vegeta trained forever to become a super saiyan then little brats became it easily
for crying out loud when frieza came to earth this nikka was looking flabby and sick with a pink shirt a pink SHIRT

Goku knew he wasn't gonna be the one to beat Cell. Had it planned all along that Gohan was gonna be the one to do it. So I don't think Cell actually made him quit. Goku just didn't wanna fight anymore cause he knew there was no point. Just my take on it.
Word. Then they learn to fuse in no time and become a SSJ3 like it was nothing.

I've read somewhere that toryama hated vegeta because he reminded him of a teacher that used to jump in his shyt when he was a student. Vegeta took his Ls like a man tho...but If you were the prince of anything, saw your entire race murdered, ya pops killed in front of you, and became a slave overnight, wouldn't you be a pissed off dude with a penchant for ambition and power too? I mean what are you supposed to do? Be a nice guy who sympathizes with his enemies? Goku couldn't walk a mile if he had trade places with vegeta.
I like goku as a fighter, he has that Jordan in 4th at the buzzer quality to him but as a character he is lame and unrealistic. He is a charicature of what the writers feel all people should aspire to be, forgive your enemies, be happy go lucky, be oblivious, basically be like Jesus
It would have been far more interesting for toryama to write a series where goku goes evil for whatever reason and have ya boy vegeta be the only one to stop him,,,, or something to that affect.

I remember Vegeta finally man up and took his L/heart when he was about to die and he was crying and begging Goku to killed Frieza and telling him what's really goin on their planet where Frieza killed their pops and destroyed the planet....that's scene really touched my soul and I was

I'm gonna have to say that frieaza was the most important villian in the entire series. Why? Because if it weren't for frieza the story wouldn't be as piff as it was. Frieza has history with the saiyans, the issues go way back before goku was even born, he ties into vegeta and gokus past and is the reason they became who they were.
Have you seen the first Brolly movie?They dropped the ball with Vegeta. He should've been the GOAT anime character, but they wouldn't let him get his shine. They were too busy trying to shove morals and ethics down our throats with Goku.
I don't know why Asians have this obsession with killing off the main protoganist/hero
