I can go a couple weeks without writing a single page and in that time if I opened up FD I'd have nothing.

But the second I want to write I can go a week writing 3-4 hours a day and the pages flow.

I'm not good at writing when I'm not "feeling it"
I gotta try to force myself to write when the time comes. Luckily since I haven’t wrote a lot in months I feel it for now. I’m gonna see if Limiting my writing helps when i get the exhaustion bug.

I just started listening to this podcast called Story Break. It's by 4 writer friends (they're not major but they work, I guess)

Every episode they basically try and "break" a story based on something random like a game, board game, random words or Wikipedia dive. The 1st episode is them trying to "break" a Legend of Zelda pilot or film.

They spend about an hour just talking it through as if they were commissioned to write it and have to crack the story. Pretty interesting, especially if you've never worked as part of a writer duo or been in a writer's room.

Story Break

I don't see myself listening to every episode but I might just pick out a few and listen. Friends Reunion Movie is the one I might listen to next - The "Friends" Reunion Movie (ft. Riley Rose Critchlow) | #78 | Story Break

It's actually pretty good and funny at times.

I just finished the "Kelloggs Cinematic Universe" episode and it took them till about 45/50 minutes but they come around to a half decent movie idea for it.

No joke, I do ish like this all the time with my friends and fam. I'm the "writer" in my circles so everyone comes to me with an idea and we shape that ish. I got one friend that we just plotted out a bunch of Disney character inspired horror reboots during a road trip to AC. 2 and a half hours in a car and we had a fairly reasonable Peter Pan horror concept. I'm about to dive into this ish heavy.

The thing I like about them (at least so far) is they've avoided the concept of making everything dark and/or gritty. They approach it as if the real Disney or the real Hasbro is trying to make a film and if its for kids they stick to it or if it starts to lean adult they lean into that.

They might play around with a "dark" idea for a few minutes but then they take it in a more real and sometimes interesting direction.

I start principle photography on my latest short in January and I’ve been sitting on idea for a reasonable feature to write because I’m ready to make my way to the big leagues. I’m working on the story for that.
