Names of characters based on Latin words but yes, made up specifically for the script
if whatever you're doing is convincing enough that those words feel natural then do it

also you gotta take into account whether the people that are reading your script are into sci-fi/have experience reading experimental stuff like that before you take their opinion on shyt like that too seriously, a romcom writer giving notes on a sci-fi script will never turn out right

Interesting I can see both sides of it. A note on the pronunciation when you do your character descriptions should be fine, I could see it being confusing if you do it in the dialogue though.

How/what is everybody doing these days?

I'm putting down an idea I worked on for a minute to focus on something else that's kinda the opposite to stretch my creativity a little.

I'm also considering writing a spec of something animated (maybe Archer.)

Funny you bring up a spec. I’m gonna try to finish my Office one.

Still working on two feature lengths that I plan on submitting to a few contests. First feature is the sci-fi action one I've been working on since the beginning of the year. I'd say I'm 95% satisfied with it at this point but will probably give it a few more tweaks. Second feature is on its 3rd draft, it's getting there but needs a bit more work. It's more of a racial drama with a sci-fi element.

Been in contact with @satireprod and @Sunalmighty outside the Coli. We've been reading each other's works and giving feedback, been really helpful. Both of them are mad talented. Anyone else in this thread wants to be a part of it then PM me.

I wanna do a spec that isn't quite what my own style is (which is why I'm going animated) but I wanna inject my style into it instead of trying to do a straight "This is my attempt at an Archer episode."

When I hear about the specs that grabbed people's attention it's always some shyt like "It was a Simpsons spec but it was dirty" or "It was a procedural spec that had jokes" etc.

Just something to flex a little creativity and have in my back pocket so to speak.

Ah, nice, like that Seinfeld 9/11 spec?

So I got fired last week, which means now I have time to write. I haven’t done much in months, but I haven’t lost my touch. I picked back up like nothing. I need about 13 pages to finish my spec. Hoping to get it done next week.

I’ve realized I can probably get a lot of shyt done if I wrote an entire day. I only did about 45 mins of writing and got 3-4 pages done.

How much time do you guys spend writing? How long before writers block kicks in?

I can go a couple weeks without writing a single page and in that time if I opened up FD I'd have nothing.

But the second I want to write I can go a week writing 3-4 hours a day and the pages flow.

I'm not good at writing when I'm not "feeling it"
