CAR is not a muslim country.

Muslin are in the North, the South is Christian.

CAR has been destabilized by France for 60 years. The last 'civil' war, which led to the current instability, was initiated by France using Chad. But it backfired on France when the new regime, to shield itself from France, turned to Russians and Russians accepted because they were mad at France.
^^^^^^^^^^ 💥💥💥💥💥

literally had a full convo with someone regarding this situation yesterday.

And I’ll leave it at that.

Africa getting carved up for those natural resources. When will it end…

Those muslims militias were used as a blackmail and discipline tool on CAR governments. Until CAR turned to Rwanda and Russians. Wagner put the hammer down on those militia.

Didn’t expect to see that referenced here. -Not being facetious

Reading that France imposed 'forced labour' (slavery) on your country until the 1950s. Also reading that the French entrenched Fulani power over the native peoples of that land. The British also used the Fulani against the peoples of Northern Nigeria...

There was also a few bloody rebellions that the French put down, incl. the Kongo-Warra Rebellion that killed tens of thousands...

The Central African Republic, Burkina Faso, and Mali are - if anything - neo-colonies of the French.

Hence why they are Francophone countries, were colonized by the French, and are explicitly tied to French-backed lending systems that have massively slowed their growth and development once they were able to break free of formal French colonial rule.

To claim that they're Russian colonial states is so absurd, that even the NYT had to juxtapose Russian mercenary activities with the U.S.'s already existing (and much more widespread) military activities in the region, the UN's continued presence there, and France's overt military presence and control there.

That isn't to say that Russian-government backed mercenary forces shouldn't be condemned across the board. They're a scourge. But the U.S. has failed to provide assistance to the governments there, and has actively undermined legitimate governments in these nations in the past - which allowed Russia to fill the void. For Burkina Faso in particular, the United States and France literally helped assassinate Thomas Sankara, the revolutionary leader of Burkina Faso, and ushered in a period of austerity and reversal of policy.

Foreign military control needs to be wrought from the nations entirely, but that would require a reversal of decades of economic policy that keeps most of the goverments in power with Western backing.
