Another Jew flick :russell:
So it is on lock to win all the awards then. :mjpls:

That screen time is not making me interested watching this.
Didn't watch that DiCarpio movie from last year because of the screen time either and I am not planning to.

ETA: This is a story of fiction, it is not based on anyone. Absolutely not watching it then.

Don't know about seeing a brutal rape scene on film. They could've found a way to insert Florence Pugh's tiddies in this and called it a day

I don’t mind long runtimes for epics or character studies that warrant such. I’m pulling for Brady though because films like this aren’t commonly made. Everything I’ve heard about it so far tells me that it should be seen on the biggest screen possible.

The Brutalist opens with the third best per-theater-average of 2024, behind only Anora and Kinds of Kindness.

A24's The Brutalist grossed an estimated $267K this weekend from 4 locations in NY/LA, for a per-location average of $66,698.

Regarding run time, I don't watch Marvel or any of that, besides Batman, but those films are easier to watch, because they are so stimulating, with special effects, rapid editing, CGI, lots of at the audience jokes. Something like The Brutalist, three and a half hours of classic style editing and writing....to me it sounds unbearable. Partially it's the subject matter, if it was a three hour take on the Sinaloa Cartel and Chino Antrax, with breathless sex and long gunfights, Mann style photography, I would be all in.

Partly it's a societies changing norms of attension span, even me, without social media, mine has probably been impacted. I still watch three hour movies in theaters, but rarely do I think they needed every minute. Mostly it's about a 30-40 min cut.

Killers of The Flower Moon
Oppenheimer
Beau Is Afraid
The Irishman
(I would just never watch this again)
