The Breakfast Club: A Boogie says “3,000 streams equal one sale now. They changed it to make it harder for us to sale.”

My Pops Forever RIP
breh your wildly off the path and clearly out the loop

youtube applies by the same rules

i genuinely want to believe but some proof is in order
the point is labels had no issue putting songs on those platforms because they count them towards the streams. Without it, they'd yank the standalone songs off and it would just be music videos.

At this point we ALL know streaming is fugazi. There was a whole report about major labels paying for streaming farms for certain artists a few weeks ago that got swept under the rug.

Its why, despite record breaking streaming numbers, artists like Bad Bunny and Taylor Swift still put an emphasis on PHYSICAL SALES. Swift released like 6 different versions of the physical copies of her latest album and fans ate that shyt up.

Hip Hop artists are getting wise too. Tyler The Creator, Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, and J.Cole have put an emphasis on promoting and selling Vinyls because Vinyl has become a BOOMING business in the last 6 or so years. Nas has been doing the same thing with physicals and has said he doesn’t give a flying 747 fukk about streaming.

I’m not a Drake fan so somebody educate me if i’m wrong but I know that Drake is one of the biggest artists in streaming history but it would seem like he’s leaving money on the table by not pushing Vinyl

No receipt No sale
I keep it simple...

Streaming counting as sale will go down as one of the dumbest things invented by human kind

It should be digital n physical copies only
No dumb bundle shyt. No bots

Then come up with a formula to compensate the artist for actual plays through these platforms..

i agree reconfigure the sales charts but streams should count as sales

when you paying a recoccuring fee it should count towards something, i didnt have to pay a fee monthly to play tapes.

Nas fans don't stream. I heard they got families and jobs and stuff.

Many of us are saying the same thing. Good to know there's still some common sense left..

When did this happen? I can’t find it anywhere RIAA and other sources are still saying 1,500

Yeah it has seemed kinda weird how sales have plummeted so much in the past year to the point where folks like Beyonce and Kendrick weren't even clearing 300k.
The problem is that when you pay $10/month, there’s only so much money these companies can give out to artists fairly. The money is upfront then gets split from there. It was never going to be fair.

He is but he’s making so much from his streams he probably doesn’t care.

Using Digital Music News' calculation that one stream earns an average of $0.0049, as well as Music Business Worldwide's calculation that around half of the revenue goes to the artist, TopDollar ended up estimating Drake's earnings at over $52 million

And that’s only Spotify. I’m sure I can find his YouTube numbers and Apple Music also

It’s never been about getting paid fairly. The real issue with streaming is if you’re not an artist that’s being streamed a lot you can forget about really making money from it.

Streams sucks for artists because it makes it harder for fans to support more than one artist at the same time but as a consumer it’s the best thing ever. 10 bucks to access billions of songs? Great!

While RIAA wasn’t alone in using this standard for years, times have changed. Billboard and Nielsen now consider the difference between paid streaming services, like Spotify and Apple Music, and ad-supported tiers like Spotify free or YouTube. They then break down the streaming services like this: 1,250 premium audio streams, 3,750 ad-supported streams, or 3,750 video streams equals one album sale.

Facts!

Honestly I don’t get the streaming complaints because artists STILL SELL PHYSICALS but no one is buying them.

And to be honest if there were no streaming I’ll be back on zshare or mega upload lol unless you’re someone I like

artist should def be paid . and streams should pay them. but i think what's happening is labels/ars/street teams no longer using/hiring bots/farms to inflate artist numbers.

Platforms gonna do what they do with their platforms. Look at Elon running Twitter. These artists gotta smarten up. Unplug from the system
