The Breakfast Club: A Boogie says “3,000 streams equal one sale now. They changed it to make it harder for us to sale.”

So any proof or cap?

Cause if true Metros album doing 182k is wilder than it already is.

But anyways unless your contract says anything about sales it’s just pointless. Spotify pays 70% of the revenue to the owner of the music. Therefore it doesn’t matter if it’s 1 sale or a billion, it’s the revenue of the sales that matter.

He is making an excuse so people can't judge him for his sales. He has no hits on this album respectfully and dropped the same day as SZA who is going to smoke him.

Nobody purchases albums anymore so that would ruin the industry and sales would go in the toilet. They just have to some how make the streams make them more money if that makes sense. I believe that is the solution.
He was a top 100 streaming artist in the world this year across all genres before he dropped his album. Close to or over 100K+ first weeks on his last two albums. SZA isn’t even his competition.

I’m sure his album will do just fine. As an artist you’d be frustrated too if streaming was your bread and butter and you had a large teenage and college aged fanbase and they raised the streams for the non ad supported versions of DSP’s/free version when a lot of your fans use that.

I'm sure SZA was higher than him on the same list. She had no album out for years and was getting crazy streams this year alone.

His singles also made no noise on this album, let's not forget that. With that said I'm sure his album would have tanked compared to his prior ones but you raise a good point. They have to increase the value of the streams some how.

He said it used to be 1500 streams No wonder everyone flopping :ohhh:

I work in the music industry.
That’s not technically correct.

Free-tier streams are calculated differently than Premium streams.

So for example Free-tier Spotify streams is around 3k streams = 1 album sale. Which I think is what he referring to.

Premium streams (Spotify premium) users are calculated at roughly 1250-1500 streams = 1album sale

So Saweetie sold 4K a week?
No.
It’s based on equivalent units conversion

For example.

1 album download = 1 album sale (like it always was)
10 track downloads = 1 album sale

1250 Premium Streams = 1 album Sale

3750 Free-Tier Streams = 1 album Sale

1 physical album sale

So basically when they say Saweetie sold 2,000 units. It’s the sum of the conversion of (pure album sales (dig & phys) + track downloads + streaming)

It’s complicated but its a unit equivalent system we’re using now.

I gave some examples in my replies.

as long as you have people selling out in any form
you will always have a bigger and bigger problem
because they are directly feeding the oppressor

but you will always have people who buy their way to the top in anything, fukking shyt up for everyone.
