Wow...I could totally see this happening. It's kind of a cliche story, but I'll probably be OK with it:
Hugie's dad will be like the guy who becomes a Vampire or a similar monster on his deathbed in order to cure some incurable disease, but he becomes an out of control killer and Butcher ignores Hugie's pleas for compassion and goes off and murders him to stop him from killing someone else.
