Another problem with the Emmys is they are very safe with who they nominate. "The Knick" was easily better than "GOT" but it wasn't even nominated. "Justified" was never nominated....neither was "Hannibal".

This was somewhat an interesting year for the Emmys. Game of Thrones cleaned house. Veep cleaned house. Black excellence all around....:wow:Not too much fcukery this time around.

Far, far less.

They don't even watch entire seasons of the shows that are nominated. They might, on their own free time. Especially if it's a popular show, but they aren't required to.

Then you also have to factor in each actor, director, writer, etc. submits an episode. Sometimes there will be overlap, like "Ozymandias" was the single episode submitted in basically every category. But that's not the norm, you might have a different episode submitted for each category from a series.

It's a really complicated and weird process. They need to revamp it.

Going by veeps ratings, not many giving a flying fukk thats for sure :manny:

that's the beauty of HBO and Netflix. they can ignore the Keeping up with the Kardashian's / 5 second attention span viewers when they have a good product.

then again it backfires sometimes when trash shows like "Girls" are still on :scust:

at least Veep pulls better ratings than that.

I think I said the same thing in last year's Emmys thread (or this year's Oscars thread). You can tell the Academy doesn't really keep up with TV like we do in The Film Room or any of the TV critcs I follow.

I like "GOT" but they'll most likely never win in the drama category due to bias against genre shows. So they're not even factor really.

As far as the quality of the show :manny: I thought this last season was pretty bad aside from 2-3 episodes. And off the top of my head a prestige drama has never went longer than 5ish seasons and gotten better because of it. Not saying it's impossible but 7-8 seasons is a bit :patrice:

I didn't watch the Knick that much so I can't really say anything about it. Mad Men was...mmm...it just felt okay for me. I wasn't floored with the last season. Some of the characters felt a bit hit or miss for me. Game of Thrones on the other hand, you saw a lot of depth from them. Especially Lena Headley. She definitely should have won.

That being said, this next season will definitely be the most hyped Game of Thrones season yet. I'm looking forward to see just how much more they will stray from the books and come up with their own vision.
:usure: NO WAY is this upcoming season gonna be as hyped up as it was going into Season 4.
